What is DesOwen Ointment Kit?

Desonide helps to reduce inflammation. DesOwen Kit for the Skin is used to treat skin inflammation and itching due to eczema, or conditions that respond to steroids. The DesOwen Ointment Kit can be used in other ways not mentioned in the medication guide.

Side effects of DesOwen Ointment Kit

If you experience symptoms such as difficulty breathing, hives or swelling in the lips, face, throat or tongue it could be an allergy attack.

The DesOwen Ointment Kit can cause severe side effects. If you experience:

  • Skin conditions are worsening;
  • Redness, heat, swelling, oozing, or severe irritation on any skin treated
  • Blurred vision, pain in the eyes, or seeing halos around lights
  • Dry mouth and fruity breath smell;
  • Possible signs that you have absorbed DesOwen Ointment Kit via your skin include: weight gain, especially in the face, upper back, and torso; discolored or thinning skin; increased hair on your body; muscle weakness; vomiting or diarrhea. You may also experience fatigue, changes in mood, changes to your menstrual cycle, or sexual changes.

Children's growth can be affected by steroid medication. If your child's growth isn't normal while taking this medication, tell your doctor.

Some of the common side effects associated with the DesOwen Ointment Kit include:

  • The skin may sting or burn after treatment.
  • Skin irritation is characterized by redness, itching, or hardening.
  • Dry, oily, or scaly skin
  • You may experience swelling in your feet or hands.
  • Acne, stretch marks;
  • Redness around the hair follicles.

Before you take this drug

This medicine is only for adults over 18 years old. Children may experience adverse side effects from this medication due to increased absorption through their skin.

How to take DesOwen Ointment Kit?

Read and follow all instructions that accompany your medication, from reading guides and prescription labels, to taking necessary dosage. Follow the directions on your prescription label. Take it only by mouth. Only apply topical medicines to the skin. If this medication gets into your mouth or eyes, rinse with water. Before each use, shake the lotion. After using desonide, wash your hands, except if you're using it to treat your skin. Rub a thin layer on the affected skin. You should not use this medication to cover a wide area of the skin unless you have been told by your doctor. Cover the area of skin that has been treated only if your doctor says so. The amount of medicine that is absorbed by your skin can be increased if you cover the treated area. This may have harmful side effects.

Use only loose-fitting or plastic diapers if you're treating your diaper area. The medicine should only be used for a short time (between 2 and 4 weeks). Dosage instructions should be followed very closely by your doctor. Once your symptoms have been controlled, you should discontinue using the medication. If your symptoms don't improve or worsen, call your doctor. Keep the bottle or tube at room temperature, away from heat and moisture. When not in use, keep the tube or bottle tightly closed.

What happens if I miss the dose?

If you are close to your next dose, skip the missed one. Never apply two doses at once.

What happens if I overdose?

If anyone accidentally swallows the medicine, seek emergency medical care or contact the Poison Help Line at 1-800-222-1222. The DesOwen Ointment Kit can cause thinning of the skin or easy bruising. It may also lead to changes in body weight (especially on your neck, face, back, and waist), acne, facial hair, or menstrual issues.

What should be avoided?

Do not get DesOwen Ointment Kit on your face, eyes, or nose. Use the DesOwen Ointment Kit only after consulting your physician.

Interaction with other drug

Other drugs that you take are unlikely to affect the medicine applied to your skin. Many drugs interact. Inform your health care providers of all the medicines that you take, including prescriptions and over-the-counter medicines, vitamins, and herbs.
