What is Dandrex?

Selenium sulfur can be described as an antifungal drug. It stops fungus from growing on the skin. Dandrex (for the skin) is used to treat dandruff, seborrhea, and dandruff, as well as tinea verisicolor (a yeast that can cause discoloration to the face). Dandrex is also employed for reasons not mentioned in this medication guide.

Side effects of Dandrex

See a doctor immediately. If you notice any of the following symptoms, they are warning signs of a reaction: symptoms of hives: breathing difficulties or swelling of your lips, face, tongue, throat, or face.

Stop taking selenium sulfurate and contact your doctor if you notice extreme or unusual skin blisters, itching, dryness, peeling, redness, or irritation on the treated skin.

Prior to use this drug

Dandrex should not be used if you are sensitive to selenium sulfur.

FDA pregnant category C. It isn't known whether Dandrex can affect a newborn baby. Consult your physician if you are expecting or planning to become pregnant while taking the drug. It isn't known if selenium sulfide is a topical ingredient that gets into breast milk or if it can harm breastfeeding babies. Inform your doctor if you are breastfeeding a child. Dandrex should not be taken by children under 2 years of age without a doctor's recommendation.

How to take Dandrex?

Take this medication exactly as stated on the label or as directed by your physician. Don't use it in higher doses or for longer periods than prescribed. Shake the selenium sulfur foam or lotion and shampoo thoroughly prior to every use. Cleanse your hands following the application of your foam or lotion.

Rinse your shampoo thoroughly. Do not let it sit on your hair for a long time. Dandrex shampoo should not be intended for use on a daily basis. Follow the instructions on the label or the prescription of your physician. Make sure to take this medicine for the entire duration prescribed by your doctor. The symptoms might improve after your illness is cleared completely.

Contact your physician if your symptoms do not improve or if they get worse after taking Dandrex. Do not cover your skin with a bandage or any other dressing unless your physician has advised you to. A thin cotton-gauze bandage can be used to cover clothing.Keep the can at room temperature and free of heat and moisture. Make sure to keep your canister in a foam canister from direct flames and avoid damaging the can.

What happens if I miss the dose?

Make sure to apply the missed dose as quickly as you can remember. If it's almost time to take the next dosage, wait until the time to apply the medicine and then skip the dose you missed. Do not use any extra medicine to replace the missed dose.

What happens if I overdose?

A dose of Dandrex isn't likely to be a danger. You should seek medical attention in an emergency or contact the poison help line at 1-800-222-1222 if you have accidentally swallowed the drug.

What should be avoided?

Beware of getting Dandrex in your nose, eyes, mouth, rectum, or vagina. If it gets into one of these places, clean it out with water. Avoid using Dandrex on skin that is sunburned, windburned, cracked, chapped, or damaged.

Avoid covering the skin area that has been treated with synthetic clothing that has tight fittings that don't allow air circulation. Wear loose-fitting clothing made from cotton as well as other natural fibers until the wound is completely healed.

Interaction with other drugs

Do not use other topical medicines when you apply Dandrex unless your physician is in agreement with it. Other skin treatments can affect the absorption and effectiveness of selenium sulfur topicals.
