What is Ciclesonide nasal?

The steroid medicine for the nose is used to treat allergies. Zetonna treats nasal symptoms such as congestion, sneezing, and runny nasal passages caused by seasonal allergies and nasal symptoms due to year-round allergies in adults and children over 12 years of age. Omnaris treats nasal symptoms of year-round allergies in adults, children, and adults over the age of 12 and seasonal allergies. This medication guide does not list all possible uses of clesonide.

Side effects of Ciclesonide nasal

Identify Symptoms of Allergic Reaction immediately If any of the following signs appear: difficulty breathing, hives or swelling on lips, face, tongue or throat are symptoms that you could be having an allergic reaction and seek medical advice: difficulty in breathing; swelling on lips/face/tongue/throat

Immediately consult a medical provider if any of the following symptoms appear:

  • A sore throat, a fever, chills
  • Red or swollen gums and mouth sores are common.
  • Pale skin, easy bruising, and unusual bleeding
  • Chest discomfort, dry cough, or hack. Rapid weight loss.

If nasal steroids are absorbed into the bloodstream, side effects can occur. You should tell your doctor if:

  • Weight gain, especially in the face and upper back or torso;
  • Stretch marks, facial hair, and thinning of the skin
  • Changes in sexual function, irregular menstrual cycles,
  • Memory problems and feeling irritable.

Ciclesonide nasal may cause serious side effects. If you experience:

  • Nasal ulcers, runny nose or bleeding nose, crust inside the nose, and whistling noise when you breathe
  • Blurred vision, redness or pain in the eyes, and seeing halos around lights are all symptoms of blurred vision.
  • Signs of thrush, a fungal disease—white patches or sores in the mouth or throat; difficulty swallowing
  • Reduced adrenal gland hormonal symptoms include nausea, vomiting, loss of appetite or feeling light-headed or tired, muscle or joint pain, skin discoloration, and a craving for salty food.

Side effects of ciclesonide nasal include:

  • Headache, dizziness;
  • Nosebleed, nasal irritation;
  • Sore throat, stuffy nose,
  • Ear pain.

Warnings

Do not use it other than as directed.Inform your doctor of all medications you are currently taking or any allergies or other medical issues you have, including allergies and health conditions such as skin issues or joint ailments.

Before you take this drug

If you have an allergy to ciclesonide, then it is best not to use it.

Tell your doctor if:

  • Asthma, TB, or other lung diseases;
  • Any type of infection caused either by bacteria, viruses, fungi, or parasites
  • Glaucoma or herpes in the eye;
  • A sore on your nose that has not healed yet
  • A recent injury to the nose or surgery on it;
  • Not been vaccinated or not had measles.

Steroids weaken the immune system and can make it easier to contract an infection. Inform your doctor of any illnesses or infections you have had in the last few weeks. There is no way to know if ciclesonide will harm an unborn child.Notify your doctor immediately if you're pregnant, planning on becoming pregnant, or trying for pregnancy. Ask your doctor if you can safely breastfeed while taking ciclesonide nasal. Steroids can have an impact on the growth of children. If your child's growth isn't normal while taking this medication, tell your doctor.

How to take Ciclesonide nasally?

Read all the instructions and medication guides on the label. Use ciclesonide only as prescribed. Do not exceed the recommended dosage or use it for a longer period of time. Follow the instructions on how to use the medication. Do not abruptly stop taking another steroid medication. Ask your doctor about tapering your dose. Omnaris should be sprayed twice daily in each nostril. Zetonna's usual dose is 1 spray per nostril, once daily. Do not forget to follow your doctor's instructions. To prime the nasal spray before your first use, shake it gently and spray it eight times into the air away from your face. If the nasal spray is not used for more than four days or has been dropped, prime it again. Omnaris should be gently shaken before each use. Prime the nasal spray by spraying it three times into the air away from your face. If you haven't used the nasal spray in more than 10 days, prime it again. Spray it once in the air if you dropped it. Zetonna should be shaken gently before every use.

How to use nasal spray

  • Press your other nostril shut while holding your head up. Inhale and spray medicine into your nose. If directed, spray the medicine into your other nostril.
  • If you spray the product in your mouth, eyes, or skin and it gets into your eyes or your mouth, rinse immediately with water.
  • For a few moments, do not blow your nose. Use the nasal spray no more than once in 24 hours.

It may take up to five weeks for your symptoms to improve. If your symptoms don't improve or worsen, call your doctor. You may need to have frequent eye examinations if you take this medication for a long time. Store the medicine upright at room temperature, away from moisture or heat. Don't freeze. Do not freeze. Keep the Zetonna canister out of direct heat or open flames. Empty canisters should not be punctured or burned. Even if the medicine is still in the bottle, throw away the Omnaris Nasal Spray after 120 sprays. After 60 actuations, you should throw away the Zetonna actuator, canister, and medicine, even if the medicine is still in the canister.

Details on dosage

Adult dose for Allergic Rhinitis:

Nasal spray: spray 2 times in each nostril, twice a day.
Maximum dose: 200 mg (2 sprays per nostril, once daily)
Aerosol nasal metered (37 mcg/actuation) 1 actuation per nostril, once daily (74 mcg).
Maximum dose: 74 mg/day (1 actuation per nostril, once daily)
Use: Treatment for nasal symptoms caused by seasonal and persistent allergic rhinorhinitis

The usual pediatric dose for allergic rhinitis is:

Seasonal allergic rhinitis
Six years old and older
Nasal Spray (50 mcg/spray) 2 sprays per nostril, once daily (200 mcg).
Maximum dose: 200 mg (2 sprays per nostril, once daily)
Seasonal and persistent allergic rhinitis
Twelve years old and older
Nasal Spray (50 mcg/spray) 2 sprays per nostril, once daily (200 mcg).
Maximum dose: 200 mg (2 sprays per nostril, once daily)
Nasal aerosol metered (37 mcg/actuation). 1 actuation per nostril, once daily (74 mcg).
Maximum dose: 74 mg/day (1 actuation per nostril, once daily)
Use: Treatment for nasal symptoms caused by seasonal and perennial allergic rhinorhinitis

What happens if I miss the dose?

If you are almost due for your next dose, skip the missed dose. Take only one dose at once of any medication. Never double up on doses at one sitting.

What happens if I overdose?

Call 1-800-222-1222 if you suspect poison or seek immediate medical advice.

What should be avoided?

Do not get ciclesonide nasal into your eyes. Rinse with water if this happens. Do not spray the medicine directly onto the septum that separates your nose. Try not to interact with those who may be sick or infectious. If you have been exposed to measles or chickenpox, call your doctor immediately for preventive treatment. The conditions are serious and can even be fatal for people using ciclesonide.

Interaction with other drug

The effects of other drugs, such as vitamins and herbal remedies, may also be affected by ciclesonide. Inform your doctor of all medications you are currently taking.
