Tell your doctor before receiving Celestone Soluspan about any medical conditions, allergies, medicines that you take, or if you're pregnant or nursing.

Before you take this drug

Celestone Soluspan should not be used if the patient is allergic to it or has idiopathic purpura. Celestone Soluspan weakens your immune system and makes it easier to contract an infection. Steroids may also exacerbate an existing infection or reactivate one you have recently experienced. Inform your doctor of any illnesses or infections you may have experienced in the last few weeks.

Communicate any of the following to your doctor:

  • Heart disease, high blood pressure
  • A thyroid disorder
  • A parasite that causes diarrhoea, such as threadworms;
  • Herpes infection in the eyes
  • A muscle disorder, such as myasthenia gravis.
  • Kidney disease
  • Liver disease, or cirrhosis.
  • Mental illness or psychosis
  • A stomach ulcer, diverticulitis, colostomy, or ileostomy;
  • A perforation is a hole (or tear) in the stomach or intestines.
  • Malaria;
  • Osteoporosis, or low bone mineral densities (steroid medications can increase the risk of bone loss).

Tell your doctor whether you or anyone else in your family has ever suffered from tuberculosis. Tell your doctor about any recent travels. In certain regions of the world, fungal infections and tuberculosis are more prevalent. You may have been exposed to these diseases while travelling. Celestone Soluspan is not known to harm an unborn child. Inform your doctor if you are pregnant. Breastfeeding may not be possible while taking this medication. You should consult your doctor if you are concerned about any risks.

How to take Celestone Soluspan?

Celestone Soluspan can be injected into a muscle, lesion, or joint or as a shallow injection under the skin. This injection will be given by a healthcare provider. You may need to adjust your dosage if there is a sudden change in stress, such as a severe illness, a fever, an infection, or if a medical emergency occurs. Inform your doctor of any situation like this that may affect you. Celestone Soluspan should not be stopped abruptly. You should follow your doctor's advice about reducing your dose. Wear or carry identification that identifies you as a steroid user in case of an emergency.

What happens if I miss the dose?

If you missed your appointment to receive your Celestone Soluspan, call your doctor and ask for instructions.

What happens if I overdose?

Overdoses are unlikely because Celestone Soluspan will be administered by a health professional in a medical environment. The use of steroids in high doses can cause thinning of the skin, easy bleeding, changes in body weight (especially on your neck, face, back, and waist), acne, facial hair growth, menstrual issues, impotence, or a loss of interest in sexual activity.

What should be avoided?

Avoid receiving a "live vaccine" while using this medication. The vaccine might not work well or protect you fully from disease.

  • Live vaccines are available for measles (chickenpox), rubella (MMR), yellow fever (typhoid), varicella, polio (rotavirus), typhoid (rotavirus), zoster, influenza (nasal flu), and varicella.
  • You can still receive an annual flu shot, an "inactivated" vaccine, or another type of vaccine to protect against diseases like hepatitis, meningitis, pneumonitis, or whooping cough.
  • Consult your doctor before receiving any vaccine.

Avoid being around people who are ill or infected. If you have been exposed to measles or chicken pox, call your doctor immediately for treatment. These conditions are serious and can even be fatal for people taking steroid medications.

Interaction with other drug

Celestone Soluspan can be affected by many drugs. These include prescription and non-prescription medicines, vitamins, and herbal products. This list does not include all possible interactions.
