What is Amlodipine and celecoxib?

Amlodipine acts as a calcium channel-blocking drug. Celecoxib is an anti-inflammatory nonsteroidal drug (NSAID).Amlodipine and celecoxib are combination medications for adults suffering from osteoarthritis as well as excessive blood pressure (hypertension).Amlodipine and celecoxib could also be used to treat conditions that are not mentioned in this guide.

Side effects of Amlodipine and celecoxib

Amlodipine and the celecoxib combination could have serious negative side effects. Take off celecoxib and amlodipine and consult your physician immediately if you suffer from:

  • Nausea or weakness; sensation of tingling;
  • Acute or new chest pain,
  • The initial sign of an itchy rash, no matter how minor;
  • Rapid weight increase, feeling short of breath;
  • Swelling in your hands, feet, legs, or arms;
  • Symptoms of stomach bleeding: bloody or tarry stool, and vomiting blood or vomiting that appears like coffee grounds
  • Issues with the liver, such as stomach discomfort (upper right side) or dark urine jaundice (yellowing of the eyes or skin),
  • Low red blood cells (anemia)—pale skin and fatigue; sensations of being lightheaded; cold hands and feet

Common adverse reactions to amlodipine and celecoxib can include:

  • Stomach discomfort, heartburn, gas, diarrhoea, nausea, stomach pain, heartburn, gas, diarrhoea;
  • Drowsiness, feeling tired;
  • Swelling;
  • Increased urination
  • Joint pain;
  • Rash;
  • Flushing (sudden redness or warmth in the area of your face);
  • Headache, dizziness,
  • Symptoms of the cold, like nasal stuffiness, sneezing, and a sore throat.

Warnings

Celecoxib may increase the chance of suffering fatal coronary heart attacks as well as strokes. Avoid using this medication prior to or following heart bypass surgery (coronary bypass grafts for the artery, or CABG). Celecoxib can cause diarrhoea or stomach bleeding and may cause fatal bleeding.

This medicine if you're allergic to the drugs amlodipine (Norvasc) or celecoxib (Celex) or:

  • An allergy to the sulfa-containing drugs
  • A past history of an asthma attack or a evere allergic reaction following an allergic reaction after taking aspirin or an NSAID

Inform your doctor if you were ever diagnosed with:

  • It could be a stomach ulcer or bleeding from your stomach or in your intestines.
  • Bleeding issues;
  • Heart issues, coronary artery disease;
  • Kidney or liver disease
  • If you smoke or drink alcohol,

If you are expecting, then you shouldn't take celecoxib unless your doctor advises that you should. Taking an NSAID in the last 20 weeks before birth may cause kidney or heart issues in the baby and possibly complications in the pregnancy.This medication may alter the fertility (ability to have children) of women. What happens if I miss the dose?

Do not take the medicine for as long as you can. However, do not take your missed dose if it's nearing the time to take the next dose. Don't take two doses at a time.

What happens if I overdose?

Get medical attention in an emergency or contact the poison help line at 1-800-222-1222.Overdose symptoms can consist of nausea, vomiting, and stomach discomfort; dizziness; rapid heartbeats; warmth or redness in your legs, arms, or feet; as well as feeling faint.

What should be avoided?

Beware of taking aspirin and similar non-steroidal antidepressants without consulting your physician.Beware of drinking alcohol. It can increase the risk of bleeding in your stomach.Talk to your doctor or pharmacist prior to using any other medications for swelling, pain, fever, or flu symptoms. These medicines may contain ingredients that are similar to celecoxib (such as aspirin, ibuprofen, ketoprofen, and naproxen).

Interaction with other drugs

Inform your doctor about all other medications, including:

  • Any other blood pressure medication, such as diuretics or "water pills,"
  • Any kind of steroid medication;
  • An antidepressant
  • Heart medicine
  • A blood thinner – warfarin, Coumadin, Jantoven
