What is Delsym Cough Plus Cold Night Time?

Acetaminophen relieves pain and reduces fever. Diphenhydramine acts as an antihistamine. Phenylephrine works as a decongestant. The combination drug Delsym Cough plus Cold Night Time treats cold and flu-like symptoms, such as a runny, stuffy, or stuffy nasal passage, sneezing and coughing, sore mouth and headaches, fevers, and muscle aches. You can buy acetaminophen, diphenhydramine, and phenylephrine from many different brands. This leaflet does not list all available brands. Side Effects of Delsym Cough Plus Cold Night Time 

If you're experiencing symptoms related to allergies such as difficulty breathing, hives or swelling in your lips, face, throat or tongue then seek medical assistance immediately. Acetaminophen can cause severe reactions in some cases. This is even true if the person has taken it before and not had any reaction. Call your doctor immediately if the skin becomes red or you develop a rash. If blisters form and you peel them off, stop taking the medicine.

The side effects of this medicine can be serious. If you experience:

Warnings

You should not take this medication if you've taken an MAO inhibitor in the last 14 days. A dangerous drug interaction may occur. The MAO inhibitors are isocarboxazid (linezolid), phenelzine (rasagiline), selegiline (tranylcypromine), and rasagiline. Follow all instructions regarding how to take this medication as overdosing could damage the liver and even result in death. A diphenhydramine overdose can cause serious heart issues, seizures, death, and coma. This medicine is not intended to be used by children younger than 12. When taking acetaminophen, drinking alcohol can increase the risk of developing liver damage. If you notice skin redness, a rash, or blistering that causes peeling and blistering, stop taking the medicine immediately and contact your doctor.

Before you take this drug

If you've ever suffered from liver diseases or drink more than three alcoholic drinks per day, you should consult a physician before you take acetaminophen.

How to take Delsym Cold Night Time Plus Cough?

Follow all directions provided on your packaging or by your doctor. Use cold or cough medicines only as needed until symptoms have cleared up.

Don't take more than the recommended dose. Overdosage with acetaminophen can have dire repercussions for the liver or even cause death, depending on its dosage level.A diphenhydramine overdose can cause serious heart issues, seizures, death, and coma. Delsym Cough Plus Cold Night Time is not recommended for children under 12 years of age. Follow the directions provided on the label when giving this medication to children. Never use this medicine to put a young child to sleep. Measuring liquid medication is important. Dosing devices are available, but not spoons. One packet should be dissolved in 4 ounces or more of water. Mix this powder and water together, then drink it all immediately. If you haven't recovered from a sore or scratchy throat within 2 days and you have nausea, vomiting, or fever, call your doctor. If you have not improved after three days or still experience pain, a stuffy nose, or a cough, stop taking the medicine. Consult your doctor. Call your doctor as soon as your symptoms worsen or you notice any swelling or redness. Tell your doctor or surgeon if this medication was taken within the last few days and if you are going to need medical testing or surgery. Keep away from heat and moisture. Store at room temperature.

What happens if I miss the dose?

Delsym Cough plus Cold Night Time can be used as needed. You may not have a regular dosing regimen. If it is almost time to take your next dose, skip any missed doses. Never take two doses in one go.

What happens if I overdose?

Call the Poison Help Line at 1-800-222-1222 or seek emergency medical care. Overdoses can cause death or liver damage. Loss of appetite, vomiting, and confusion are all possible overdose symptoms. Other signs include dark urine or no urination.

What should be avoided?

Do not drive or engage in hazardous activities until you have determined how the medicine affects you. You may be unable to react properly. Before using any other medication that contains acetaminophen or diphenhydramine, consult your doctor or pharmacist. Included are medicines used to treat pain, fevers, swellings, flu symptoms, or skin itch. An overdose of acetaminophen and diphenhydramine may be fatal. If you are taking this medication, drinking alcohol can increase the risk of developing liver damage.
