What is Zyflo?
Zyflo can be used to help prevent the onset of asthma attacks as well as for the long-term control of the asthma condition in adults and children who are at least 12 years old.
Zyflo can also be used to treat conditions not mentioned in this medication guide.
Side effects of Zyflo
See a doctor immediately. If you are experiencing symptoms that indicate an allergic reaction, such as hives, difficulty breathing, and swelling of your lips, face, tongue, throat, or face,

Before you take this drug
You shouldn't take Zyflo in case you are allergic to it or are suffering from:
- Liver disease
- Extremely high liver enzymes during an analysis of blood.
Contact your doctor if have ever had the following symptoms:
- Liver issues such as dark urine, jaundice (yellow eyes or skin),
- If you consume large quantities of alcohol,
Inform your doctor if you are breastfeeding or pregnant.
If you're pregnant, you could be included on the registry for pregnancy to monitor how Ziuton affects your baby.
How to take Zyflo?
Follow the directions on the label of your prescription and also read all medication guides or instructions sheets. Make sure you use the medicine precisely as directed.
Zyflo tablets are typically consumed four times per day at the same time throughout the day, in conjunction with food or not. If you are unable to swallow the tablet in its entirety, break it in two and then take only one portion at a time.Zyflo extended-release tablets are typically taken twice a day, within 1 hour of your meals in the morning and at night.Suck this extended-release tablet whole, and don't chew, crush, or break it.
The symptoms you experience may not go away for a couple of days or a couple of weeks. Continue to take Zyflo even if you experience no symptoms (an indicator that the medicine is effective).Zyflo cannot be considered a quick-acting emergency treatment to treat asthma-related attacks. Seek medical attention when your breathing issues become worse rapidly or you believe the medications you are taking aren't effective.
Don't alter the dose or stop taking asthma medications without consulting your physician.You'll need regular tests of your blood to determine the liver's function.Maintain at room temperature and free of heat, moisture, and light.
Do I be concerned if I miss a dose?
Do not miss the missed dose, and then take the subsequent dose at the usual time. Don't take two doses at the same time.
What will happen if I take excessively?

What should be avoided?
Beware of drinking alcohol. This increases the chance of liver damage.
Interaction with other drugs
If you stop or begin using Zyflo, your doctor might require adjustments to the dosages of other medications you are taking regularly, in particular:
- Propranolol;
- Theophylline
- Warfarin, Coumadin, and Jantoven.
