What is Natacyn?
Natamycin can be described as an antifungal drug.Natacyn (for the eye) is a treatment for the fungal infection in the eyes.Natacyn is also employed for other purposes that are not covered in this medication guide.
Side effects of Natacyn
See a doctor immediately. Get medical attention immediately if you notice symptoms that are warning signs of an allergic response, such as hives, difficulty breathing, and swelling of your lips, tongue, throat, or face.
Natacyn can cause severe adverse effects. Contact your doctor immediately if you suffer from:
- Vision change;
- Eye redness, swelling, redness, or any other irritation
- Eye pain, numbness, or weakness;
- Chest pain and breathing problems.
Common adverse reactions to Natacyn include:
- Teary eyes, watery eyes,
- You feel like something is visible in your eyes.

Before you take this drug
You shouldn't take Natacyn if you are sensitive to it.It isn't known if Natacyn can harm an unborn baby. Inform your doctor if you are expecting.
It isn't known if natamycin ophthalmic is passed into breast milk or if it can harm breastfeeding babies. Consult your physician if you are breastfeeding a baby.
How to Take Natacyn?
Follow all the instructions on the prescription label. Don't use Natacyn in smaller or larger quantities or for longer periods than the recommended time.Cleanse your hands prior to using the drops for your eyes.
Shake the medicine thoroughly before use.
To apply drops to the eyes:
- Turn your head slightly back and then pull the lower eyelid, creating an eyelid pocket. Keep the dropper in front of your eye with the tips towards the lower. Take a look upward, far away from the dropper, and squeeze out the drop.
- You can close your eyes for two or three minutes with your head down without blinking or squinting. Make sure to gently press your finger on the inside of your eye for approximately one minute to prevent the fluid from leaking into the tear duct.
- At least 10 minutes before applying the other drops for your eyes that your physician has recommended.
Don't touch the tip of your eyedropper or put the dropper directly into your eyes. A dropper that is contaminated could affect your eyes and cause serious vision problems.
Don't use eye drops if it appears that the liquid has changed color or contains particles. Consult your pharmacist about the latest medication.Storage at room temperature, far from heat, moisture, and light. Don't freeze. Make sure the bottle is tightly sealed when not being used.
Make sure to take this medicine for the entire prescribed duration of time. The symptoms could improve after your disease is cleared completely. The absence of doses can increase the risk of a subsequent infection that is intolerant to antibiotics.
Consult your doctor if symptoms persist after 7–10 treatments or you suffer from a fever, headache, cough, or an itchy skin eruption.
What happens If I miss a dose?
Take the dose you missed immediately after you remember. Do not take your missed dose if it's close to the time of the next dose. Do not take extra medicine to replace the missed dose.

What should be avoided?
Avoid using this medication when using contact lenses. Natacyn can contain a preservative that could alter the color of contact lenses. You should wait at least 15 minutes after taking Natacyn before inserting contacts.
This medication could cause blurred vision and affect your reaction. Be cautious if you drive or engage in any activity that requires you to be able to see clearly.Do not use any other eye medication unless your doctor advises you to.
Interaction with other drugs
It's unlikely that other medications you take in the form of injections or orally can affect the eye-cleansing agent natamycin. However, many medications can interact with each other. Inform your health professionals about all medications you are taking, which include prescription and non-prescription medicines, vitamins, and herbs.
