What is Vigamox?
Vigamox eye drops are used to treat pink eye (infection of the membrane covering the outer surface of the eyeballs as well as the inner surface of the eyelids) caused by bacterial conjunctivitis.vigamox should not be used if you are suffering from a fungal infection or virus (including simplex herpes) in your eye.
Moxifloxacin belongs to the class of antibiotics known as fluoroquinolones. Vigamox kills the bacteria responsible for infection.
Side effects of Vigamox
If you experience any of the following symptoms of an allergic reaction, seek immediate medical attention: difficulty breathing, hives, swelling in your lips, face, throat, or tongue.
Vigamox may cause serious side effects. Vigamox may cause serious side effects.
- If you experience severe burning, stinging, or irritation following the use of vigamox, discontinue using it immediately.
- Signs of eye infection: swelling, redness, severe discomfort, crust, or drainage
Side effects of vigamox include:
- Dry or watery eyes
- Eye pain, redness, or discomfort
- Blurred vision

Warnings
Vigamox should not be used if your eye is infected with a virus or fungus. Only bacteria-related infections can be treated with this product.if you've had an allergic reaction before to this or similar medicines, do not take them. Vigamox is similar to gatifloxacin ophthalmic, gatifloxacin ophthalmic, ciprofloxacin ophthalmic, and ciprofloxacin ophthalmic. Before you take this drug
Vigamox should not be used if you have an allergy to moxifloxacin or other similar drugs, such as:
- Ciprofloxacin or other antibiotics such as gemifloxacin (levofloxacin), norfloxacin (ofloxacin), and others
Tell your doctor if you wear contact lenses.inform your doctor if you are pregnant or nursing.
How to take Vigamox?
Read all the instructions on the prescription label before using vigamox.continue to use this medication even if you notice a rapid improvement in your symptoms. By skipping doses, you could increase your infection's resistance to the medication. Vigamox does not treat viral infections.before using eye medications, wash your hands.apply the eye drops by pulling down your lower lid to create a pocket. Squeeze a few drops into this pocket. Close your eyes for a minute or two.only use the number of drops prescribed.
Avoid touching the tip of the dropper or placing it directly on your eye. A contaminated dropper may cause serious vision problems and infection of your eye.
If your symptoms don't improve or worsen, seek medical help immediately.v do not use this medication longer than recommended.store upright, tightly closed, and at room temperature. Do not store it in the freezer.
Details on dosage
Adult dose for bacterial conjunctivitis:
Moxeza (r): apply 1 drop to the eye or eyes affected twice daily.
Vigamox: 3 drops in each eye, three times per day.
Duration of treatment: 7 days
use: to treat bacterial conjunctivitis caused by susceptible strains:
moxeza (r): aerococcus viridans, corynebacterium macginleyi, enterococcus faecalis, micrococcus luteus and staphylococcus arlettae were identified. Staphylococcus aureus was present and so were s aureus, s aureus capitis epidermidis haemolyticus hominis saprophyticus warneri streptococcus mitis pneumoniae parasanguinis as well as escherichia coli with haemophilus influenzae klebsiella pneumoniae propionibacterium acnes and chlamydia trachomatis being identified.
Vigamox: corynebacterium species, m. Luteus, s. Aureus, s. Epidermidis, s. Haemolyticus, s. Hominis, s. Warneri, s pneumoniae, streptococcus (viridans group), acinetobacter lwoffii, h influenzae, h parainfluenzae, and c trachomatis
The usual pediatric dose for bacterial conjunctivitis in children is:
Moxeza(r):
instill 1 drop twice daily in the eye(s).
Vigamox: 3 drops in each eye, three times per day.

What happens if i miss the dose?
If your next dose is approaching quickly, skip any missed ones and wait. Never apply two doses at once.
What happens if i overdose?
If anyone accidentally swallows the medicine, seek emergency medical care or call poison help at 1-800-222-1222.
What should be avoided?
You should only use eye drops prescribed by your doctor.contact lenses should not be worn until the infection has cleared. Consult your doctor about how long to wait before you put your contact lenses in.
Interaction with other drug
Other drugs that you take are unlikely to affect the medicine used on your eyes. Many drugs interact. Tell your doctor all of the medications, both over-the-counter drugs and herbal supplements, that you are currently taking.
