What is Soothe XP?

This leaflet does not list all brands or forms of eye lubricant available today. Soothe is used by adults to relieve irritation and burning caused by dry eyes. This medication guide does not list all possible uses of Soothe XP.

Side effects of Soothe XP

If you experience any of the following signs of an allergic reaction: difficulty breathing, hives or facial or throat swelling. Seek medical help immediately.

If you experience:

  • After using the medication, you may experience severe eye irritation, burning, or stinging.
  • Eye pain
  • Vision changes

Soothe XP side effects may include:

  • Mild eye irritation or burning;
  • Itching or redness in your eyes
  • Watery eyes
  • Blurred vision
  • Light sensitivity

Do not use Soothe XP for treating or preventing an eye infection.

Before you take this drug

If you have an allergy to Soothe XP, do not use it. This medication will not prevent or treat an eye infection. If you suspect that you may have an infection, ask your doctor or pharmacist if Soothe XP is safe to use. Notify your doctor immediately if you are pregnant or nursing.

How to take Soothe XP?

Read all instructions or guides that come with your medication and follow all instructions on the label. Follow the directions on the label. Before using Soothe XP, wash your hands. If the medicine appears cloudy or changes color, do not use Soothe XP. Call your pharmacist.

Avoid touching or placing directly on your eye the tip of an eye dropper or ointment tube as contaminated tip can lead to vision impairments and may pose health risks if touched directly on eyes. If your symptoms don't improve or worsen while taking Soothe XP, call your doctor. Store at room temperature, free from direct heat or moisture.

What happens if I miss the dose?

When needed, Soothe XP can be used. You can skip any missed dose if you have a schedule. Never use two doses in one go.

What happens if I overdose?

Overdoses of ocular moisturizer are not dangerous. If anyone accidentally swallows the medication, call 1-800-222-1222 or the Poison Help Line for immediate medical attention.

What should be avoided?

You may experience blurred vision after taking Soothe XP. Make sure to observe how taking medication will affect you before driving or engaging in any potentially hazardous activities. You should only use eye drops prescribed by your doctor.

Interaction with other drug

Other drugs you take will likely not interfere with the medicine used on your eyes; however, various substances interact. It's best to inform your healthcare provider about all medications taken - prescriptions, over-the-counter medicines, vitamins or herbal remedies.
