What is Selsun Blue 3in1?

Salicylic acid is a keratolytic (peeling agent) that causes the shedding of the skin's outer layer.

Selsun Blue 3in1 (for the skin) is used for treatments for acne andruff, seborrhea, or psoriasis, as well as to get rid of calluses, corns, and warts.Selsun Blue 3in1 could also be used for other purposes not covered in this medication guide.

Side effects of Selsun Blue 3in1

Selsun Blue 3in1 could trigger an uncommon but serious allergic reaction or severe skin irritation. These reactions could occur only several minutes after the application of the medicine or within a few hours or more.

Do not use Selsun Blue 3in1 immediately, and seek medical attention immediately if you notice symptoms or warning signs of the allergic reaction, such as itching, hives, breathing difficulties, or feeling lightheaded and swelling of your face, mouth, lips, tongue, or throat.

Stop the use of Selsun Blue 3in1 and contact your doctor right away in case you are suffering from:

  • Extremely severe headache, the ringing of your ears, trouble with hearing, issues with thinking;
  • Extreme stomach discomfort, vomiting, or diarrhea;
  • A feeling of lightheadedness, as if you're about to pass out.
  • Breathlessness
  • Extreme dryness, burning, or irritation to the skin.

Common negative side effects associated with Selsun Blue 3in1 may include:

  • Small itching, rash, or peeling
  • Variations in the appearance of the affected skin (usually lightening).

How to take Selsun Blue 3in1?

Selsun Blue 3in1 can be purchased in various forms, including gel, liquid cream, lotion, soap, foam, ointment shampoo, pads for cloth, and patches for skin.

Use only as indicated on the label or as directed by your physician.Do not consume by mouth. The use of topical medicines is exclusively on your skin.Selsun Blue 3in1 could cause a rare but serious allergic reaction to the skin or cause severe irritation. Apply a small amount of the medication as a "test dose" to one or two small areas of skin each day for three consecutive days. If you do not experience any reaction to the medication, start using the entire dose on the fourth day.

It is possible that you need to shake the medication prior to taking it. Follow the instructions on the label of the product.Selsun Blue should not be used 3x1 to treat any illness that has not been examined by your doctor.

The symptoms you experience may be unaffected for a couple of days. Contact your physician if your symptoms do not improve or if they become worse.Place the medicine in the original bottle at room temperature and away from heat and moisture.Make sure the foam container is kept away from flames or extreme temperatures. The canister might explode if it becomes too hot. Don't puncture or burn an empty aerosol container.

What happens if I miss the dose?

Selsun Blue 3in1 is used when you need it. If you're following a prescribed dosage schedule, do not miss any doses. Don't take two doses at once.

What should be avoided?

Beware of using Selsun 3in1 on wounds that are open or on sunburned or windburned skin. Itchy, or dry skin.Rinse your mouth with water if this medicine is ingested into your mouth or eyes.

This medicine could be potentially flammable. Avoid using near-high temperatures or near an open flame. Clean your hands prior to using a hair styling device (such as a straightening or curling iron). A high temperature could cause the medication to ignite and cause skin burns. Don't smoke until the gel has been absorbed by your skin.

Avoid other medications in the areas that you will treat using Selsun Blue 3in1 unless your doctor has instructed you to.

Interaction with other drugs

Skin care products are unlikely to be influenced by any other medications you take; however, many medications can interact. Inform your doctor about all the medications you are currently taking, including prescription and over-the-counter drugs, vitamins, and herbal remedies.
