What is Rythmol?
Rythmol, a Class IC anti-arrhythmic, affects how your heart beats. Rythmol can be used to treat serious heart rhythm disorders. Rythmol can be used in other ways not mentioned in this guide.
Side effects of Rythmol
If you experience any of the following signs and symptoms of an allergic reaction: difficulty breathing, hives, swelling of lips, face, tongue or throat - seek medical assistance immediately!
Rythmol can cause an abnormal heartbeat. If you experience rapid or pounding pulses, fluttering of the chest, shortness of breath, or sudden dizziness, you should call your doctor immediately.
Call your doctor immediately if you:
- Shortness of breath even with mild exercise
- You may experience swelling in your arms or legs.
- Sudden weight gain;
- A sore throat. Fever.
Some of the common side effects that rythmol can cause include:
- Heartbeats irregular;
- Nausea, vomiting, constipation;
- Headache, dizziness, tiredness,
- Unusual or unpleasant taste in the mouth

Warnings
Rythmol should not be used if you suffer from heart failure or other conditions such as Brugada syndrome, sick sinus syndrome (without a pacemaker), severe blood pressure, or very slow heartbeats. Rythmol can cause an abnormal heartbeat. If you experience a fast or pounding pulse, chest fluttering, sudden dizziness, or shortness of breath, call your doctor immediately.
Before you take this drug
Rythmol should not be used if:
- If you've recently suffered a heart attack or heart failure,
- A genetic heart disorder called Brugada syndrome
- A serious heart condition, such as "sick-sinus syndrome" or an "AV block", (unless you already have a pacemaker);
- You may have fainted due to low blood pressure or a history of slow heartbeats.
- A severe or uncontrolled imbalance in electrolytes;
- Shortness of breath or wheezing
Tell your doctor about any of the following:
- A breathing disorder;
- Liver or kidney disease
- Lupus;
- Myasthenia gravis;
- An antinuclear antibody test (ANA) is a blood test that shows abnormal results.
Inform your doctor if there is a defibrillator or pacemaker in place. You may need to re-program these devices while taking Rythmol. Inform your physician immediately if you become pregnant or breastfeeding. Rythmol can impede men's fertility (their ability to have children). Speak to your healthcare provider regarding any concerns.
How to take Rythmol?
Read and follow all instructions or guides included with your medication, especially those written by doctors who might alter its dosage. Sometimes doctors change dosage amounts; when this happens, take exactly as prescribed by your healthcare provider. Rythmol can be taken either with or without food. This medication may cause very low blood pressure. If you have extreme thirst or loss of appetite or are experiencing nausea or diarrhea, call your doctor. You may require frequent blood tests. Before and during Rythmol treatment, your heart function will be monitored with an ECG, or electrocardiograph (also called an EKG). Store away from heat, moisture, and light.Keep the bottle securely closed when not being used.
What happens if I miss the dose?
If you are almost due for your next dose, skip the missed one. Never take two doses of the same medicine at once.
What happens if I overdose?
Call 1-800-222-1222 for poison help or seek immediate medical attention.
What should be avoided?
Grapefruit can interact with rythmol, causing unwanted side effects. Avoid grapefruit products.
Interaction with other drug
Certain combinations of medications should not be taken together as this could alter blood levels of other medication you're already taking and cause side effects or render them ineffective. Rythmol may cause serious heart problems if it is taken with other medications for asthma, high blood pressure, depression, mental illness, or cancer. Rythmol can be affected by many drugs. These include prescription and over-the-counter medicines, vitamins, and herbal products. This list does not encompass all possible interactions. Please inform your physician of all medications taken currently or those that will soon become part of your routine, whether these be discontinueing use altogether or adding more into it.
