What is Robitussin Peak Cold  Multi-Symptom Cold ?

Dextromethorphan works by inhibiting the brain's cough reflex; Guaifenesin relieves chest and throat congestion while Phenylephrine contracts blood vessels within nasal passages to shrink blood vessel size. Robitussin Peak Multi-Symptom Cold treats cough, congestion, and stuffy nose caused by allergies or the common flu. Robitussin Multi-Symptom Cold Peak will not treat a cold that is caused by smoking or asthma. This medicine is available in many different brands and forms. This leaflet does not list all brands. Side Effects of Robitussin Peak Cold  Multi-Symptom Cold

When experiencing signs and symptoms of an allergic reaction, seek medical assistance immediately: difficulty breathing, hives or swelling to your lips or throat.

This medicine can cause serious side effects. If you experience:

  • Little or no urination
  • Fast or slow heartbeats
  • Confusion, dizziness, feeling unsteady;
  • Nervousness; sleep problems (insomnia);
  • Severe nausea or vomiting;
  • Severe headache; blurred vision; or pounding in the neck and ears
  • Slow breathing
  • Unusual changes in mood or behavior

Robitussin peak cold and multi-symptom cold may cause the following side effects:

  • Diarrhea, constipation;
  • Dizziness, drowsiness;
  • Sleep problems (insomnia);
  • Feeling nervous, restless, or irritable.

There may be other side effects. Call your physician immediately if experiencing side effects; alternatively, the FDA can be reached at 1-800-FDA-1088 in order to report adverse reactions.

Warnings

This medicine should not be used if you've taken MAO inhibitors in the last 14 days. These include isocarboxazid (linezolid), phenelzine (phenelzine), rasagiline (selegiline), and tranylcypromine.

Before you take this drug

This medicine should not be used if you have an allergy to dextromethorphan or guaifenesin. Do not take this medication within 14 days if you have taken an MAO inhibitor such as isocarboxazid (linezolid), phenelzine (rasagiline), selegiline (tranylcypromine), or rasagiline. MAO inhibitors pose the potential of dangerous drug interactions. MAO inhibitors include isocarboxazid, phenelzine (rasagiline), selegiline and rasagiline as MAO inhibitors.

If you suffer from:

  • High blood pressure, heart disease
  • Diabetes;
  • A thyroid disorder
  • Urination problems
  • Glaucoma;
  • Epilepsy
  • Pheochromocytoma
  • Chronic bronchitis or emphysema can cause a cough that is mucus-laden.

This medication may contain phenylalanine. If you have phenylketonuria, check the label of your medication. Consult your doctor before taking this medication if you're pregnant or breastfeeding.

How to take Robitussin Peak Cold  Multi-Symptom Cold ?

Follow the directions on the label or those prescribed by your physician. If you have phenylketonuria, carefully examine the label on any medications prescribed to you. Before taking this medication while pregnant or breastfeeding, always consult your physician first. Adhere to the instructions on the label or as indicated by your healthcare provider for best results. Cold and cough remedies should only be taken temporarily until symptoms have subsided. Follow the label directions when giving cough or cold medicines to children, never using these remedies to put them to sleep. Avoid chewing or crushing tablets before swallowing. Take them whole. Measuring liquid medicine accurately is critical. Use either the supplied dosing device or another dosing tool (not spoon). Drink more fluids while taking this medication to loosen congestion and soothe your throat. This may also help decrease medication side-effects. If your symptoms do not improve within seven days or you experience fever, rash, or headache symptoms it's wise to contact your physician immediately. Notify your doctor or surgeon immediately if you've taken medication within the last several days that will require testing or surgery, especially if medical testing or procedures will soon follow. Store away from moisture or heat at room temperature. Liquid medicines should not be allowed to freeze.

What happens if I miss the dose?

Your cough and cold medication might not fall on a set schedule; rather, take only when necessary. If it is nearly time for another dose, omit any missed one, taking no two at the same time.

What happens if I overdose?

Call 1-800-222-1222 immediately if you suspect a poison exposure and seek immediate medical care.

What should be avoided?

Do not drive or engage in hazardous activities until you have determined how the medicine will affect you. You may be unable to react properly. Certain side effects can be exacerbated by alcohol consumption. Before using any other cold or cough medicines, ask your doctor or pharmacist if they contain similar ingredients.

Interaction with other drug

Use Robitussin Multi-Symptom Cold only if you are not taking any other medications that can cause drowsiness, such as opioids, muscle relaxers, or medicines for anxiety or seizures.
