What is a Poly Hist Forte?

Doxylamine can be described as an antihistamine, which reduces the effects of a natural chemical histamine within the body. Histamine is known to cause nose sneezing, itching, eye watering, and a dry nose. Phenylephrine Phenylephrine is an anti-congestant that reduces the size of blood vessels in nasal passages. Blood vessels that are dilapidated can cause the nasal passages to become congested (stuffy nostrils). Poly-Hist Forte is a combination medicine that is used to treat a stuffy or runny nose. Itching, sneezing, eye watering, and sinus congestion that are caused by allergies, commonly-spread colds, and influenza

Side effects of Poly Hist Forte

See a doctor immediately. Get medical attention immediately if you notice symptoms that indicate an allergic reaction, such as hives, difficulty breathing, and swelling of your lips, face, and throat.

Poly-hist forte may cause severe adverse reactions. Stop taking poly hist forte and call your doctor immediately in case you experience:

  • Severe dizziness;
  • Nervousness, trouble sleeping;
  • Very little or no urine; or
  • High blood pressure (severe headache or pounding of your neck or in your ears)

Common adverse negative effects from poly hist forte may include:

  • Dizziness, drowsiness;
  • Dry mouth, nose, dry mouth, or throat
  • Constipation;
  • Blurred vision or
  • Experiencing a sense of anxiety or excitement (especially for children).

Warnings

Do not take this medication when you've taken an MAO inhibitor in the last 14 days, for example, isocarboxazid or linezolid, blue injections, phenelzine rasagiline, selegiline, or tranylcypromine. Do not take this medication solely to help a child fall asleep.

Prior to use this drug

You shouldn't take Poly Hist Forte if you are sensitive to doxylamine or phenylephrine. Don't use Poly Hist Forte if you've used an MAO inhibitor in the last 14 days. A risky drug interaction may occur. MAO inhibitors are isocarboxazid linezolid Methylene blue injection rasagiline and phenelzine, as well as tranylcypromine and others.

Ask your doctor or pharmacist for a recommendation on whether this medicine is safe to use if you are suffering from:

  • Asthma or any other breathing disorders, like emphysema as well as chronic bronchitis;
  • High blood pressure and cardiovascular disease;

How to take Poly Hist Forte?

Always adhere to the directions on the medication label regarding administering cold or cough medication to children. Don't use the medicine solely to help a child fall asleep. Death can occur due to the misapplication of cough or cold medicine to children who are very young. Consult your doctor if symptoms don't improve after seven days of medication, if you suffer from a fever that causes headaches or coughs, or if you have the appearance of skin.

If you are in need of surgical intervention or tests for medical reasons, inform the doctor or surgeon prior to the time of your appointment if you took this medication within the last few days. Place it in a cool, dry place far from heat and moisture.

What happens if I miss the dose?

Because Poly Hist Forte is used in the event of need, you might not be following a dose schedule. Do not miss any doses when it's time to take the next dose. Don't take two doses in one go.

What should be avoided?

Avoid driving and other hazardous activities until you understand how polyhistamine will affect your body. Your reaction could be affected. Consult a physician or pharmacist before taking any other cold or cough medications that contain similar components. Drinking alcohol can cause an increase in certain adverse effects associated with doxylamine.

Interaction with other drugs

Do not take this medication in conjunction with other drugs that may result in drowsiness or slowing the rate of breathing (such as opioids as well as a muscle relaxer or medication to treat anxiety and seizures). Talk to your doctor or pharmacist prior to using any other medicine, including prescription and over-the-counter medicines, vitamins, and herbal supplements.
