What is Onmel?
Onmel is a medication for antifungal purposes that is taken by adults to combat fungus-related infections. This can include infections that affect any area of the body, such as the mouth, lungs, or throat, or the toenails or fingernails.
Certain Itraconazole brands are not suitable to be used in treating fungal infections that affect the toenails or fingernails. Make sure you use only the strength and brand the doctor recommends. Onmel can also be used to treat conditions not covered in this guide.
Side effects of Onmel
Contact emergency medical assistance. If you are experiencing symptoms that indicate an allergy, such as an allergic reaction to hives, an intense facial rash or tingling in your legs or arms, breathing difficulties, or swelling of your lips, face, and throat,
Stop taking Onmel and contact your doctor immediately if you notice symptoms of heart failure. These include being exhausted or weak, coughing with mucus, fast heartbeats, weight gain, swelling, or sleep issues.
Continue taking Onmel; however, you must contact your doctor right away. If you suffer from:
- Feeling lightheaded and confused (like you're about to pass out);
- Blurred vision, double vision, and the ringing of your ears are issues with hearing.
- Fast heartbeats;
- Sensation of tingling or numbness, the loss of control over the bladder
- Very little or no urine or pain after you urinate;
- Low potassium level: leg cramps, constipation, and irregular heartbeats the chest flutters with more thirst or urination, muscular fatigue, or a feeling of limpness;
- Pancreatitis—severe discomfort in your stomach that spreads into your lower back; vomiting along with nausea; or
- Problems with the liver: nausea, stomach pain, fatigue, nausea, weight loss, black stools, dark urine, jaundice (yellowing of the eyes or skin).
Common adverse consequences of Onmel include:
- Headache, dizziness, drowsiness, tiredness;
- Elevated blood pressure
- Rash, itching;
- Nausea, vomiting, stomach pain, diarrhoea, constipation;
- Swelling;
- Abnormalities in the test results for blood or liver functions;
- High fever and muscle joint discomfort;
- An unusual or unpleasant taste that you can detect in your mouth.
- Hair loss;
- Impotence, erection problems, or
- Changes in your menstrual cycle

Warnings
You shouldn't use Onmel in the event that you've suffered problems with your heart. If you suffer from kidney or liver problems, you should not take Onmel along with colchicine, fesoterodine, or solifenacin. Onmel could harm unborn babies. Avoid getting pregnant during treatment and for two months following the last dose.

Before you take this drug
It is not recommended to take this medication if you have an allergy to Onmel or similar medications like fluconazole or ketoconazole, or if you have had an uncontrolled heart condition.
Risky side effects could occur in the event that you take Onmel along with other medications. Your doctor might alter your treatment regimen in the event that you've used other medicines within the past two weeks, particularly:
- Avanafil;
- Cisapride;
- Eliglustat;
- Irinotecan;
- Isavuconazonium;
- Methadone;
- Naloxegol;
- Ranolazine;
- Ticagrelor;
- Lurasidone or pimozide (anti-psychotic medications);
- Lomitapide, lovastatin, and simvastatin (cholesterol-lowering medicines);
- Dihydroergotamine, ergonovine, ergotamine, or methylergonovine (ergot medicines);
- Eplerenone, felodipine, ivabradine, or nisoldipine (heart and blood pressure medications);
- Disopyramide, dofetilide, dronedarone, or quinidine (medicines for heart rhythm problems) as well as
- Oral midazolam or triazolam (valium-like sedatives).
If you suffer from kidney or liver disease, you should not use onmel together with colchicine, fesotredine, solifenacin, or the drug telithromycin.
Onmel can cause harm to a baby who is not yet born. Use effective birth control to stop pregnancy while using this medication and for at least two months after the last dose. Inform your doctor in the event that you discover you are pregnant.
Speak to your doctor if you were ever diagnosed with:

How to take Onmel?
Follow the instructions on the prescription label and read the medication guide or instructions sheets. Follow the medication precisely as prescribed. Don't share Onmel with anyone else, even if they suffer from similar symptoms to yours.
It is recommended that the Onmel capsule be taken along with food. Take it in its entirety, but do not crush or chew on it, break it, or even open it. Consume Onmel orally (liquid) on an empty stomach, at the very least 1 hour prior to or two hours after having eaten. The liquid is sipped into your mouth for a few seconds before you swallow it. Make sure to measure the liquid medicine with care. Make use of the dosing syringe supplied or a dose-measuring device (not the kitchen spoon).
It is important to note that the Sporanox PulsePak comes with a specific dosing schedule, which includes not taking the medication for a number of days consecutively. Be sure to follow all instructions for dosing.
Onmel capsules shouldn't be used to replace itraconazole oral solution (liquid) in the event that it is the prescription your doctor has given you. Do not take the medicine for as long as you can. However, avoid any missed doses if it's nearing the time to take the next dose. Don't take two doses at a time.

What should be avoided?
Avoid driving or engaging in hazardous activities until you are aware of the extent to which Onmel can impact you. Your reaction could be affected.
Do not take an antacid within one hour prior to or two hours after taking Onmel. Certain antacids could make it more difficult for your body to absorb the medicine.
Interaction with other drug
It is sometimes not recommended to take certain medications simultaneously. Certain medications can alter the blood levels and the other drugs you are taking, which could cause more side effects or make the medication less effective.
A variety of drugs can impact Onmel. And some medications are not recommended to be used simultaneously. Discuss with your doctor all your medications as well as any medications you are about to start or stop taking.
