Omlonti

Name of the Generic: Omidenepag isopropyl.

What is Omlonti?

Omlonti is an eyedrop prescribed by doctors to treat ocular hypertension and glaucoma. Omlonti is one of the first drugs in an entirely new class of medications known as EP2 prostaglandins, which are relatively selective receptor antagonists. It reduces the pressure on the eye by enhancing the drainage of aqueous humor.

Treatment

Omlonti is utilized for the reduction of elevated intraocular pressure (IOP) in patients with open-angle glaucoma or ocular hypertension. Ocular hypertension is a term used to describe the elevated pressure within the eye. It could cause the development of glaucoma as well as loss of vision when left untreated. Glaucoma is an eye condition caused by the accumulation of fluid within the eyes. It could result in damage to the optic nerve, which can cause the loss of the visual field and even blindness. Before you take this drug

It is not recommended to use this medication if you are sensitive to omidenepag isopropyl. Inform your doctor whether you've ever experienced inflammation or infection in your eye, retinal detachment, eye surgery, or an injury that affects the cornea of your eyes. Omlonti could cause an enlargement of the color of your eyes or your eyelids and lashes. It is also possible to notice an increase in the volume or thickness of your eyelashes. These changes happen slowly, and you may not be able to notice them for a long time. The changes in color can last even after the treatment has ended and can only be noticed in the affected eye. It could cause cosmetic changes in your eye or the color of your eyelashes from one eye to another.

Consult your physician if you are nursing or pregnant. When you take your Omlonti multi-dose container from its carton, ensure that the tamper-evident cap isn't broken. If the tamper-evident overcap is damaged, Omlonti might not be safe to use.

How to take Omlonti?

Follow the directions on the label of your medication and on the label of your package. Inform your healthcare professionals about your medical ailments and allergies, as well as the medicines you are taking. Take this medication precisely as your doctor recommends. Omlonti is used only in the eye. If you take this medicine along with other eye medicines, you should be patient for at least 5 minutes between taking Omlonti and the other drugs. In the event that you are wearing contact lenses, take off the lenses before you use Omlonti. It is recommended to wait for at least 15 minutes after you have used Omlonti before putting the lenses back into your eye. Omlonti may cause changes in color within your eyelids and iris and can alter the length and color of your eyelashes.

Step 1: Wash your hands thoroughly using soap and water. If you're unable to wash your hands, then you could clean your hands with hand disinfectant.

Step 2: Turn the tamper-evident overcap to the left and uncap the multidose bottle.

Step 3: Remove the tamper-evident overcap and dispose of it.

Step 4. Gently shake the bottle.

  1. Turn the inner screw cap leftward to remove it. Don't throw the inside cap of the screw away.

Step 6: Pull down your lower eyelid using your clean finger. The medication will enter that space in between the lower and upper eyelids of the eye.

Step 7: Tilt your head back and gaze upward.

Step 8. Gently squeeze the multi-dose bottle until you release one drop of medicine into your eye. Don't let the top of the bottle touch your eye or any other surface. If you miss a drop, it will go to an eye area; do it a second time.

Step 9. Blink a few times to ensure that the medication gets spread across your eye.

Step 10: After using Omlonti to close your eyelids, gently press the eye's corner close to the nose. This will take about 2 minutes.

Step 11. Repeat Steps 6 to 10 with your other eye in case you need drops for both eyes.

Details on dosage

Usual Adult Dose for Open-Angle Glaucoma and Ocular Hypertension

The dosage recommended is a single drop in the affected eye(s) every day at night. Utilization: the reduction of the pressure in the intraocular space (IOP) in patients suffering from open-angle glaucoma and ocular hypertension.

Side effects of Omlonti

See a doctor immediately. If you notice symptoms that indicate an allergic reaction, such as difficulty breathing, hives, and swelling of your lips, face, and throat, Stop using this medication and contact your doctor immediately if you notice eye swelling, redness, severe pain, drainage or crusting (which may indicate an infection), vision changes, or red, swollen, or itchy eyelids. Omlonti could cause color changes within your eyelids and iris and alter the length and color of your eyelashes.

Common side effects could include:

  • Eye redness.
  • Sensitivity to light.
  • Blurred vision.
  • Dry eyes.
  • Instillation site pain.
  • Eye discomfort.
  • Headache.
  • Eye irritation.
  • Visual impairment.

What happens if I miss a dose?

Do not miss the missed dose, and use the next dose at your regular time. Avoid taking two doses at the exact time.

What happens if I overdose?

Omlonti is a drug that can be abused. Omlonti isn't expected to pose a risk. Get medical attention immediately or contact the Poison Help line at 1-800-222-1222 in the event that anyone has accidentally swallowed the medicine.

Interaction with other drugs

The eye medicine will not be affected by any other medications that you are taking. But there are many drugs that interact with each other. Inform your health care providers about the medicines you are taking, such as medications that are prescribed and available over the counter, such as vitamins and herbal remedies. If you are using this medication alongside other eye medications, you should be patient for at least 5 minutes between taking Omlonti and the other drugs.
