Mintox

Generic name: Aluminum hydroxide, magnesium hydroxide and simethicone [a-LOO-mi-num-hye-DROX-ide, mag-NEE-see-um-hye-DROX-ide and si-METH-i-kone] are used as ingredients in cosmetics products to improve skin condition.
Brand names: Almacone, Gelusil, Mag-al Plus and Milantex products may help keep symptoms of allergies at bay while Mylanta Maximum Strength may offer extra support.

What is Mintox?

Mintox, also known as a mixture medicine, is used to treat acid reflux, stomach upset, and bloating due to gas. It can also be prescribed for stomach discomfort from eating too much or drinking excessively. Mintox can be used in other ways not mentioned in the medication guide.

Side effects of Mintox

If you experience any of the following symptoms of an allergy reaction, seek medical assistance immediately: difficulty breathing, hives or swelling in your lips, face, throat or tongue.

The side effects of this medicine can be serious. If you experience:

  • Bone pain and muscle weakness
  • Confusion, changes to your mental state and seizure (convulsions). These symptoms could signal that there are major health concerns present that require further medical intervention.
  • Pale skin, lightheadedness, or feeling short of breath. Rapid heart rate.

Warnings

It can also make other medications, such as certain antibiotics, harder to absorb. Mintox should not be taken within two hours of another medicine.

Before you take this drug

This medicine should not be used if you have an allergy to aluminum hydroxide or magnesium hydroxide.

If you suffer from:

  • Kidney disease
  • If you're on a diet low in magnesium,.

Consult your doctor before taking this medication if you're pregnant or nursing. Children aged under 12 should only take this medicine with medical supervision.

How to take Mintox?

Follow the instructions on the packaging or those prescribed by your physician.

The chewable tablet must be chewed before it can be swallowed.

Before measuring a dosage, shake the orally suspended liquid. You can use the provided dosing cups or a dose-measuring device.

Take no more than is recommended by the label. This medicine should not be taken at the maximum dosage for more than two weeks.

Most often, an antacid will be taken until the symptoms are gone. If your symptoms do not improve after two weeks, call your physician immediately.

Keep away from heat and moisture. Liquid medicines should not be allowed to freeze.

What happens if I miss the dose?

Mintox can be used as needed, and you don't need to follow a schedule. If it is almost time to take your next dose, skip any missed doses. Never take two doses in one go.

Call 1-800-222-1222 immediately if you suspect poisoning, or seek immediate medical care.

What should be avoided?

Interaction with other drug
