Millipred Dp

Generic name: Prednisolone [pred-NIS-oh-lone]
Brand names: Millipred, Orapred ODT, Millipred DP, Pediapred and Veripred 20 are available as treatments for multiple conditions.

What is Millipred DP?

The steroid Millipred DP prevents substances from being released in the body that cause inflammation. The treatment of many diseases, including inflammatory disorders like arthritis, lupus, and psoriasis; ulcerative colitis; allergic disorders; gland disorders (endocrine); and disorders that affect the skin, eyes, or lungs. This medication guide does not list all possible uses of Millipred DP.

Side effects of Millipred Dp

Symptoms of allergy reactions include difficulty breathing, hives, swelling in lips, face, throat or tongue as well as difficulty swallowing. Seek medical assistance immediately if this happens to you.

Side effects from Millipred DP can be serious. If you experience:

  • Rapid weight gain, swelling, and shortness of breath even with light exertion;
  • Any wound or bruise that does not heal.
  • Severe depression is characterized by changes in personality or unusual behavior.
  • New or unusual pains in the arm, leg, or back
  • Bloody or tarry stool, vomiting blood, or vomit that looks like coffee grounds
  • Severe pain spreading from your stomach to your spine, nausea, and vomiting
  • A seizure (convulsions);
  • Low potassium—leg cramps constipation: increased thirst and urination.

Steroids can affect the growth of children. If your child's growth isn't normal while taking millipred dp, tell your doctor.

Millipred may cause the following side effects:

  • Fluid retention
  • Dizziness, spinning sensation;
  • Changes in menstrual cycles;
  • Headache;
  • Muscle pain or weakness;
  • Stomach discomfort and bloating.

Warnings

This medicine should not be used if there is a fungus infection in any part of your body.

Before you take this drug

If you're allergic to Millipred DP or if:

  • A fungus infection can occur anywhere on your body.

The immune system can be weakened by Millipred DP, which makes it more likely that you will contract an infection. The steroids can worsen or even reactivate a recent infection. Inform your doctor of any illnesses or infections you may have experienced in the last few weeks.

Tell your doctor about any of the following to ensure that Millipred is right for you:

  • Active tuberculosis
  • A thyroid condition;
  • Herpes in the eye
  • Diverticulitis, stomach ulcers, or ulcerative colitis.
  • Depression, mental illness, or psychosis;
  • Liver disease, especially cirrhosis
  • High blood pressure
  • Osteoporosis;
  • A muscle disorder, such as myasthenia gravis.
  • Multiple sclerosis.

Tell your doctor as well if you suffer from diabetes. The glucose levels (sugars) in urine or blood can be increased by steroids. Your diabetes medication may need to be adjusted. Millipred DP may harm a baby that is still unborn. Inform your doctor of any pregnancy or plans to get pregnant. There is no way to know if prednisolone can pass into the breast milk or whether it will affect a nursing infant. Inform your doctor that you are breastfeeding.

How to take Millipred Dp?

Please follow all the instructions on the prescription label. Your doctor may change the dose from time to time. Use this medication only as prescribed. Do not exceed the recommended dose or use it for longer. Sometimes, Millipred DP can be taken once every two days. Do not forget to follow your doctor's instructions. Use the provided dosing device, a dose-measuring spoon, or medicine cups. Ask your pharmacist if you don't have one. It may be necessary to thoroughly shake the liquid oral suspension before measuring a dosage. Please follow the instructions on the label of your medication. The disintegrating tablet should be kept in the blister until the time comes to use the medication. Peel back the foil on the blister using dry hands. Do not force the tablet through. Place the tablet in your mouth. Let the tablet dissolve without chewing. As the tablet dissolves, you can swallow it several times. You can drink liquids to aid in the swallowing of the tablet. If you are experiencing unusual stress, such as an illness or fever, or have had surgery, your dose may need to be adjusted. Inform your doctor of any situation that may affect you.

It can produce unusual medical test results. Inform any doctors who treat you that you use Millipred DP. Do not abruptly stop taking Millipred. You should follow your doctor's advice about reducing your dosage. You can wear a Millipred DP medical alert badge or carry a card stating your medication. You should inform any medical provider that treats you about your steroid medications. Tell the surgeon that you use Millipred DP before you have surgery. It may be necessary to temporarily stop taking the medication. Keep away from heat and moisture. Store at room temperature.

What happens if I miss the dose?

If you missed a Millipred dose, call your doctor to get instructions.

What happens if I overdose?

Call 1-800-222-1222 for poison help or seek immediate medical attention. A prednisolone overdose is unlikely to cause life-threatening symptoms. Long-term use of high doses of steroids can cause symptoms like thinning of the skin, easy bleeding, changes to your body's shape and location (especially on your neck, face, waist, and back), acne, facial hair growth, menstrual issues, impotence, or loss of sexual interest.

What should be avoided?

Avoid receiving a live vaccine when using Millipred DP. During this period, the vaccine might not be as effective, and you may not get full protection from illness. The live vaccines are measles (MMR), rubella, mumps (MMR), yellow fever (chickenpox), varicella, and influenza (nasal flu). You should not get vaccinated against smallpox. This could lead to serious complications. Stay away from people with infections or illnesses. If you have been exposed to measles or chickenpox, call your doctor immediately for treatment. The conditions are serious and can even be fatal for people taking steroid medications.

Interaction with other drug

Prednisolone can interact with other drugs, such as prescription, over-the-counter, herbal, or vitamins. Inform your doctor of all the medicines you are currently taking and those that you will begin or stop.
