What is Miconazole topical?

Antifungal topical Miconazole is a medication. Miconazole prevents the growth of fungus on your skin. Topical miconazole (for the face) can be used to treat skin conditions such as athletes' foot jock itch, Ringworm tinea veriscolor, and yeast infections. Side effects of Miconazole topical

If you experience any of the following symptoms of an allergy reaction, seek immediate medical attention: difficulty breathing, hives, swelling in your lips, face, throat, or tongue.

Miconazole can cause severe side effects. If you experience:

  • Severe blistering, irritation, and redness of the treated skin.

Side effects that may occur from miconazole topical include:

  • Irritation, peeling, or dry skin.

The risk of side effects when applying miconazole to your skin is very low. However, if you allow the medication to enter your bloodstream, there are some side effects that can happen, such as:

  • Pain in the teeth;
  • A changed sense of taste
  • Nausea, diarrhea;
  • Headache.

Before you take this drug

If you have an allergy to miconazole, then it is best not to use topical miconazole.

Miconazole topical is safe for pregnant women. If you're pregnant, do not take this medication without consulting your doctor. There is no way to know if miconazole topically passes through breast milk or if it can harm nursing babies. If you're breastfeeding a child, do not take this medication without consulting your doctor.

How to take Miconazole topical?

Do not exceed the recommended dosage or duration. Use the recommended dose and do not exceed it.Take only the topical form. Miconazole is only to be used on the skin. The medicine should never be applied to open wounds. The use of miconazole topical in the vagina and rectum is prohibited. You should wash your hands both before and after you use this medicine, unless it is to treat a condition of your skin on your hand. Apply the cream, lotion, spray, or powder as directed. Use the lotion, cream, spray, or powder as directed, twice a day, for two to four weeks. Cover the skin only if your doctor says so. To protect your clothing, you can use a light cotton-gauze bandage. Your doctor has prescribed you with antifungal medication for as long as they believe is necessary, even though symptoms may subside before all your infections have cleared up completely. Skipping doses increases the risk of second infections resistant to antifungal treatment and should therefore be avoided at all costs. If the infection doesn't clear in two weeks (or four weeks if you have athlete's feet) or appears to be getting worse, call your doctor. Keep the tube at a temperature between 15 and 25 degrees Celsius, away from heat or moisture. When not in use, keep the tube closed tightly.

What happens if I miss the dose?

As soon as possible, apply the missed dose. If your next dose is approaching, skip the missed dose. You should not take extra medication to compensate for a missed dose.

What should be avoided?

Do not get this medicine in your nose, eyes, or mouth. Wear loose-fitting clothing made of cotton or other natural fibers. Wear cotton or other natural fabrics that are loose-fitting until the infection has healed.

Interaction with other drug

Miconazole applied topically is unlikely to be affected by other medications you may take orally or those that are injected. Many drugs interact. Inform your healthcare providers of all the medicines that you take, including prescription medicines and over-the-counter medications.
