Metamucil Thins Chocolate contains a fiber-based laxative to help treat constipation or irregular bowel movements. Metamucil Chocolate Thins may help reduce cholesterol when combined with a low-cholesterol and saturated-fat diet. Metamucil Thins Chocolate can be used in other ways not mentioned in the medication guide.

Side Effects of Metamucil Thins Chocolate

If you experience any of the following symptoms of an allergy reaction, seek immediate medical attention: difficulty breathing, hives, swelling in your lips, face, throat, or tongue.

Metamucil-thin chocolate can cause severe side effects. If you experience:

  • Constipation lasting more than seven days
  • Rectal bleeding
  • Severe stomach pain.

Some of the common side effects associated with Metamucil Thins Chocolate include:

Before you take this drug

If you've ever experienced an allergic reaction, then Metamucil Thins Chocolate is not for you.

If you've ever:

  • Stomach pain, nausea, or vomiting;
  • Trouble swallowing
  • A sudden and lasting change in the bowel habit that lasts more than two weeks

The medication may also contain sodium or sugar. If you suffer from diabetes, hypertension, or PKU (phenylketonuria), you should check the label of your medication. You may need a different dose during pregnancy and while nursing. Metamucil Chocolate Thins should not be given to children younger than six years of age without consulting a doctor.

How to take Metamucil Thins Chocolate?

Follow the instructions on the packaging or those prescribed by your physician. If laxatives are taken too frequently or for too long, they can become habit-forming. Metamucil Thins Chocolate may cause your throat to swell and even lead to choking if taken without enough liquid. To improve your bowel movements, drink plenty of water each day. Metamucil Thins Chocolate should be taken with 8 ounces of water or any other liquid. Metamucil Thins Chocolate Capsules should be taken one capsule at a time. Metamucil Thins Chocolate Powder must be mixed in liquid before taking. The dry powder should not be swallowed. Add 8 ounces or more of water, fruit juice, or other liquid. Mix and consume this mix immediately. Pour a bit more water into the glass and swirl it gently. Drink immediately. Metamucil Thins Chocolate produces bowel movements within 12 to 72 hours. Metamucil Thins Chocolate should not be taken for more than seven days without consulting a physician. A laxative used too frequently or for too long can cause serious medical issues with the intestines.

Avoid eating high-fat or high-cholesterol foods if you are taking Metamucil Thins Chocolate in conjunction with a treatment to lower cholesterol. Otherwise, your treatment may not be effective.

Interaction with other drug

Metamucil Thins Chocolate may make other medications you swallow less absorbable and therefore less effective. Take any other oral medications 2 hours prior to or 2 hours following the time you take Metamucil Thins Chocolate. Metamucil Thin Chocolate may be affected by other drugs, such as prescription or over-the-counter medications, vitamins, and herbal products.Inform your physician of all medications you are currently taking as well as those you stop or begin to use, whether those changes were gradual or sudden.
