What is Medium chain triglycerides?

The medical food medium chain triglycerides are made from polyunsaturated fatty acids like safflower and fatty acids. Medium-chain triglycerides are used to supplement the diet of people who cannot digest certain foods. It is for people who have unintentional weight losses, are gluten- or lactose-intolerant, or who need more calories due to medical reasons. Medium-chain triglycerides do not contain carbohydrates or protein. This medication guide does not list all possible uses for medium-chain triglycerides.

How to take medium chain triglycerides?

Do not exceed the recommended dosage or duration. Use the recommended dose and do not exceed it. You can mix medium-chain triglycerides with fruit juice or use them on vegetables or salads, in baking or cooking, or in other ways. Be sure to shake the liquid thoroughly before using this product. Store medium-chain triglycerides away from moisture, heat, and humidity at room temperature.

Details on dosage

Adult dosage for dietary supplements:
15 mL of oil orally, 3–4 times daily. Use oil in salads, on vegetables and fruit, to make sauces that can be used with fish, poultry, or lean beef, or for cooking.

What happens if I miss the dose?

This product can be used as needed. You are unlikely to have a schedule of dosages.

What happens if I overdose?

A medium-chain triglyceride overdose is unlikely to cause any life-threatening symptoms.
