Kera-42

Generic Name: Urea topical Yo-ree-a-TOP’ik-al“YOO-ree-a”.
The Brand Names: Aqua Care, Aquaphilic with Urea, Atrac-Tain, Carb-O-Philic/20, Carmol.
The Class of Drug: Topical emollients.

What is Kera-42?

There are a variety of varieties and brands of urea topical that are available, but not all brands are included in this brochure. Kera-42 (for the skin) is used to soften dry or rough skin due to skin disorders like eczema, psoriasis, keratosis, and more. It is also utilized to help soften the damaged fingers and toenails, allowing them to be easily trimmed without surgical intervention. Kera-42 is also used for reasons not mentioned in this medication guide.

Side effects of Kera-42

Contact a medical professional immediately. If you experience any of the following symptoms, they are warning signs of a reaction. difficulty breathing or swelling of your lips, tongue, throat, or face. Kera-42 can cause serious adverse reactions. Stop using Kera-42 immediately and contact your doctor immediately. If you suffer from:

  • The skin. Itching or redness are common in treated skin.

Common adverse side effects of Kera42 can include:

  • A mild sting or burning sensation.

Before you take this drug

It is best not to use Kera-42 if you are allergic to it. The FDA classification for pregnancy is C. It isn't known whether Kera-42 can harm an unborn baby. Do not take Kera-42 without consulting a physician when you are pregnant. It is unclear if the topical urea enters the breast milk or if it is harmful to nursing babies. Don't use this medication without consulting a physician's guidance if you're breast-feeding the baby.

How to take Kera-42?

Kera-42 can be purchased in varieties (cream lotion, ointment, lotion liquid, gel shampoo, foam, and more) to be applied to the scalp or on the skin. Follow the directions stated on the label or as directed by your physician. Don't use it in larger doses or for a longer time than is recommended. Do not consume by mouth. Kera-42 can be used only to treat skin. If this medication is absorbed into your nose, eyes, mouth, rectum, or vagina, wash it off with water. Make use of a mild cleanser or soap to clean the nail or skin area that you want to treat. Kera-42 is most effective in the event that the nail or skin being treated is slightly damp prior to when the medication is applied. Spread a small amount of this treatment on the skin that is affected and massage it in as deeply as you can. After applying Kera-42 to the nails, try not to get any of the medicine on the cuticles or surrounding skin. Apply the cream generously to the nail and let the medication dry. You can wrap the nail in gauze or bandages if your doctor recommends it. The treated nail will be removed with ease after a few days.

Stir the Kera 42 foam thoroughly prior to every use. Other formulations of this medication could also require shaking prior to use. Follow the directions on the medicine's label. Cleanse your hands using soap and water following the application of this treatment, except if you are treating the skin on your hands. The medicine container should be kept shut when not in use. Be sure to keep the foam canister clear of open flames or high temperatures. The canister could explode if it becomes too hot. Don't puncture or burn the empty foam canister.

What happens if I miss a dose?

Utilize the dose you missed immediately after you recall. Avoid any missed doses if it's close to the time of the next dose. Don't use any extra medication to make up for the missed dose.

What should be avoided?

Don't use Kera-42 on burns, open wounds, or areas of skin that are swollen. If this medicine gets in your nose, eyes, mouth, rectum, or vagina, wash it with water.

Interaction with other  drugs

It is unlikely that other medications you take in the form of injections or orally will affect the topically applied urea. However, there are many drugs that interact with each other. Be sure to inform your health care professionals about any medications you take, such as prescription and over-the-counter medications, vitamins, and herbs.
