What is Ixinity?

Ixinity can be used to prevent or treat bleeding among people who have haemophilia A. The medication should not be used to treat people who have a haemophilia B deficiency of factor VIII. This medication guide does not list all possible uses of Ixinity.

Side effects of Ixinity

If you experience any of the following: hives; itching; wheezing; tightness in the chest; difficulty breathing; blue lips; feeling as if you may pass out; swelling on your face, lips, or tongue; swelling around your throat, mouth, and/or lips.

Ixinity can cause severe side effects. If you experience:

  • Weight gain is swelling of the hands or legs, as well as your waist.
  • Loss of appetite
  • Fever chills
  • Continued bleeding following treatment
  • New or worsening bleeding
  • Signs of excess blood clotting include sudden numbness, weakness, slurred or shaky speech, difficulty with balance or vision, chest pains, blood in the cough, and pains, swellings, heat, redness, and warmth on either or both of your legs.

Side effects that may occur with ixinity include:

  • Nausea;
  • Headache;
  • Dizziness;
  • Changed sense of taste
  • Mild skin rash;
  • Pain, swelling, itching, or other irritation at the injection site

Warnings

Before you take this drug

Ixinity should be avoided if you:

  • You have an allergy to the clotting factor medicine.
  • You have excessive signs of blood clotting.
  • You are allergic to the hamster protein.

If you've ever:

  • Kidney disease
  • Liver Disease
  • Coronary artery disease, or hardening of the arteries
  • A stroke or an attack of the heart

Inform your doctor immediately of any pregnancies or breastfeeding. Ixinity, which is made of donated plasma from humans, may contain viruses and other infectious agents. Plasma is treated and tested to minimise the chance of contamination. However, there's still a possibility that it can transmit a disease. You should ask your doctor if there are any risks.

How to take Ixinity?

Review all instructions or guides included with your medication and follow them precisely. Sometimes, your doctor will change the dose. You must take the medication exactly as prescribed. Your first dose may be administered in a hospital or clinic to treat serious side effects. The infusion of ixinity into the vein is how it's administered. Your healthcare provider may prescribe and instruct you on the correct use of the first dose.

Please read and follow all directions included with your medication, if you don't understand them consult your pharmacist or physician immediately. Before using ixinity, it must be mixed in a liquid. If you are using the injections yourself, make sure that you know how to mix and store them. It should be clear, colourless, or yellow. Make sure that you only prepare an injection when you are prepared to administer it. If the medication is cloudy or looks different, it should not be used. For new medication, call your pharmacist.

Do not mix the medication by shaking it. You may damage the medicine. Do not use the injection for 3 hours after you have mixed your dose. Blood tests may be required frequently. Wear or carry a medical ID to alert others that you suffer from bleeding disorders.

Follow the instructions on the label of your medicine about the best way to store both the powder and the diluent. Some types of coagulation IX may be stored in the refrigerator. Avoid freezing. Do not expose the medication to sunlight. Every vial or bottle is only for one-time use. After one use, throw it out, even if the medicine is still inside.

After the date of expiration has passed, throw away all leftover xin. Only use a syringe and needle once, and place the sharps container in an area that is puncture-proof. Be sure to abide by any local or state regulations on how you should dispose of the container, keeping it out of reach of pets and children.

What happens if I miss the dose?

What should be avoided?

If your doctor prescribes any restrictions on foods, drinks, or activities, follow their instructions.

Interaction with other drug

Ixinity may be affected by other drugs, such as prescription or over-the-counter medications, vitamins, and herbal products. Inform your physician of all medications you are currently taking as well as those you have just begun or stopped taking.
