What is Isopto carbachol?

Carbachol reduces eye pressure by increasing the amount of fluid that drains out of the eye.

Isopto carbachol is used to relieve pressure in the eye after cataract surgery.

Side effects of Isopto-carbachol

If you experience any of the following symptoms of an allergic reaction, seek immediate medical attention: difficulty breathing, hives, swelling of your lips, face, tongue, or throat.

Isoptocarbachol can cause serious side effects. If you experience:

  • New or sudden visual problems
  • Seeing "floaters" or "flashes" in your vision
  • Urination problems.

Isoptocarbachol can cause the following side effects:

  • Blurred vision
  • Flushing (warmth, redness, or tingly sensation);
  • Stomach pain or upset
  • Headache
  • A tight feeling in the bladder

Isopto carbachol is not known to harm unborn babies. Inform your doctor if you are pregnant. It is unknown if carbachol ophthalmic can pass into breast milk or if it will harm a baby who is nursing. Inform your doctor if you're breastfeeding a child.

How to take Isopto carbachol?

Isoptocarbachol can be injected into your eye. Before giving you the injection, your doctor will use medicine to numb it. This injection will be given in a doctor's office or another clinic setting.
