What is Inomax?

Inomax is an inhaled gas. It works by relaxing the smooth muscle in order to widen blood vessels (dilate), especially those located in the lungs.inomax can be used in conjunction with a ventilator to treat respiratory failure among premature babies.

This medication will be administered to your baby in the neonatal intensive-care unit (NICU) of a hospital or other similar setting.This medication guide does not list all possible uses of inomax.

Side effects of Inomax

Inomax has few side effects. However, your baby could have a noisy breathing pattern, blood in their urine, or collapsed lungs. It is possible that your baby may have breathing problems after stopping the treatment with this medicine.

How to take Inomax?

Inomax can be inhaled by mouth or nose into the baby’s lungs.Your baby might also use a breathing tube attached to a ventilator. A ventilator is a machine that helps your baby get enough oxygen and breathe more easily.inomax can be given for up to 14 consecutive days. This medication may be gradually weaned from your baby's system.

During treatment with inomax, your doctor will closely monitor the vital signs of your baby, including his breathing, blood pressure, and oxygen levels. Your doctor will be able to determine the length of time you should continue taking this medication. Blood tests may be required for your child.

What happens if I miss the dose?

Inomax can be given by your healthcare provider as required. It is unlikely that your child will miss a dosage.

What happens if I overdose?

Inomax must be administered in a medically controlled setting by a qualified healthcare professional. An overdose is unlikely to occur. Overdoses of nitric oxide are not expected to cause life-threatening symptoms.

What should be avoided?

After your baby is treated with inomax, follow your doctor's instructions regarding any restrictions on feeding, medication, or activity.

Interaction with other drug

The carers of your baby will monitor and manage all medication given to him or her during the NICU treatment. Inomax is unlikely to cause drug interactions with other medications.This includes vitamins, minerals, and herbal products. This includes minerals or herbal products.
