What is Imvexxy Local?

Estradiol is a form of estrogen, which is a female hormone that regulates a number of processes in the human body.

Some estradiol products are placed directly in the vagina to treat "locally" vaginal menopause (such as irritation, dryness, or burning). Some vaginal estradiol is used to treat vaginal symptoms of menopause and other symptoms (such as hot flashes). This type of vaginal estradiol can have "systemic" side effects. It means that it may affect other parts of the body than the area where the medicine was applied.

This guide contains information on Imvexxy as a local treatment for vaginal symptoms associated with menopause, including dryness, irritation, pain, and itching.Imvexxy Local can be used in other ways not mentioned in this guide.

Side effects of Imvexxy

If you experience any of the following symptoms of an allergic reaction, seek immediate medical attention: hives, difficulty breathing, swelling of the face, lips, or throat.

If you experience nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, severe muscle pain, dizziness, fainting, and/or a sunburn-like rash, remove the vaginal rings and get emergency medical help. These symptoms may indicate a potentially life-threatening condition called toxic shock syndrome.

Imvexxy can cause serious side effects. If you experience:

  • Heart attack symptoms include chest pain, pressure or pain that spreads to the shoulder or jaw.
  • Signs of a Stroke: sudden numbness (especially on one side), severe headache, slurred or shaky speech, or problems with vision and balance.
  • Signs of a blood clot: sudden vision loss, stabbing pain in the chest, feeling short-of-breath, coughing blood, or pain or warmth on one or both legs.
  • You may experience swelling or tenderness in your stomach.
  • Jaundice
  • Memory problems, confusion, and unusual behavior
  • Unusual vaginal bleeding and pelvic pain
  • A lump in your breast,
  • High levels of calcium in the blood can cause nausea, vomiting, constipation, or increased thirst and urination. Other symptoms include muscle weakness, bone pains, and a lack of energy.

Imvexxy side effects may include:

  • Nausea, vomiting, bloating, and stomach cramps;
  • Headache;
  • Weight gain; swelling of the hands and feet;
  • Breast pain
  • Breakthrough bleeding.

Warnings

Estradiol should not be used if: you have undiagnosed vaginal blood, liver disease, bleeding disorders, you are going to have major surgery, or you've had a stroke, heart attack, blood clot, or cancer in the breast, uterus, cervix, or vagina.Use it only if you're not pregnant.

Estradiol can increase your risk of uterine carcinoma. Do not ignore any abnormal vaginal bleeding.Imvexxy increases your risk of stroke, blood clots, and cancer of the ovaries, breast, or uterus. Estradiol is not recommended to prevent strokes or dementia.

Before you take this drug

Estradiol should not be used if:

  • Unusual vaginal bleeding not checked by a physician;
  • Liver disease
  • A history of a heart attack, stroke, or blood clot
  • An increased risk of blood clots as a result of a heart condition or hereditary blood disorder
  • A history of cancers of the breast, uterus, cervix, or vagina

Do not use estradiol while pregnant. Inform your doctor immediately if a pregnancy occurs during treatment.

This medicine increases your risk of a stroke or heart attack. This medicine can increase your risk of blood clots, stroke, and heart attack if it is used by someone with high blood pressure, high cholesterol, or if they smoke.

Estradiol is not recommended to prevent stroke, heart disease, or dementia. This medication may increase your risk of developing these conditions.

Tell your doctor about any of the following:

  • Heart disease
  • If you have liver disease or jaundice due to pregnancy or taking hormones, then it is important that you consult your doctor.
  • Kidney disease
  • Gallbladder Disease
  • Asthma;
  • Epilepsy
  • Migraines;
  • Lupus;
  • Endometriosis or uterine fibroid tumors;
  • Hereditary angioedema
  • Porphyria
  • A thyroid disorder,
  • Calcium levels in the blood can be high or low.

Estradiol can increase the risk of breast, uterine, and ovarian cancer. Speak to your doctor about the risk.Estradiol may slow down the production of breast milk. Inform your doctor that you are breastfeeding.

How to take Imvexxy Local?

Read all instructions or guides that come with your medication and follow all directions. Follow the directions on the label.Estradiol can increase your risk of developing a condition that may lead to uterine carcinoma. A progestin may be prescribed by your doctor to lower this risk. If you experience any unusual vaginal bleeding, call your doctor immediately.Before inserting Imvexxy, wash your hands.

The applicator supplied is used to measure out the dose of vaginal estradiol cream. After each use, wash the applicator with warm, soapy water and mild soap.

Imvexxy tablets are supplied with a disposable applicator. After one use, throw the tablet applicator out.Once it's in place, you shouldn't be able to feel the vaginal band. Remove the vaginal rings after 90 days. You may be asked by your doctor to replace the ring with a brand new one. The ring is not required to be removed when having sexual relations. You can remove the ring, wash it in warm water, and then reinsert it if it bothers you.

To remove the vaginal ring, gently pull the finger through it and loop the ring. If you are having trouble removing the ring, call your doctor.You should have your doctor check on you regularly to see if this treatment is still appropriate. While using estradiol, self-examine your breasts monthly for lumps and get a mammogram once a year.

You may have to temporarily stop using Imvexxy if you are going to be undergoing major surgery or a long-term bedrest. You should let any doctor or surgeon that treats you know you use estradiol.Store away from moisture or heat at room temperature. Keep your vaginal rings in their protective pouches until you're ready to use them.

What happens if I miss the dose?

If you are almost due for your next dose, skip the missed dose. Never take two doses of the same medicine at once.As soon as you recall, remove the vaginal band and replace it with a new one. Use an extra vaginal band to compensate for the time missed.If you lose a vaginal band, wash it in warm water before reinserting it. Use your finger to push the ring in further if it falls into the lower portion of the vagina.

What should be avoided?

Smoking is harmful. Estradiol can increase the risk of heart attack, stroke, or blood clots.Do not use other vaginal products unless your doctor has prescribed them.Avoid grapefruit products, as they may cause unwanted side effects. Avoid grapefruit products.

Interaction with other drug

It is sometimes not safe to take certain medications together. Some drugs may affect the blood levels of drugs that you are taking, increasing side effects or making them less effective.

Estradiol can be affected by many drugs. These include prescription and over-the-counter medicines, vitamins, and herbal products. This list does not include all possible interactions. Inform your doctor of all medications you are currently taking and those that you will stop or start using.
