What is Hysept?

Hysept is an antibacterial.Hysept can be used to treat or even prevent infections that are caused by skin ulcers or pressure wounds.This medication guide does not list all possible uses of Hysept.

Side effects of Hysept

If you experience any of the following signs and symptoms of an allergic reaction: hives, difficulty breathing or swelling of lips, face, tongue or throat. Seek medical assistance immediately.

Hysept can cause serious side effects. Hysept should be stopped immediately, and you should consult your doctor if:

  • Severe redness or irritation on the treated skin
  • No improvement in skin condition
  • New or worsening swelling or pain.

Hysept should not be used if you have a sensitivity to products containing chlorine (such as bleach).

Before you take this drug

Hysept should not be used if the user is allergic or sensitive to products containing chlorine (such as bleach).FDA pregnancy class C There is no information on whether Hysept can harm an unborn child. Inform your doctor if you are pregnant.It is unknown if sodium chlorite topical can pass into breast milk or if a nursing infant could be harmed. You should tell your doctor if you're breastfeeding a child.

How to take Hysept?

Do not exceed the recommended dosage or use Hysept for longer than prescribed. Hysept should not be used in higher or lower amounts or for longer than prescribed.Pour or apply this medication to the affected area.Pour Hysept over the skin wound to treat it. You can also soak some gauze and apply it to the wound. You should follow your doctor's instructions on how long you need to leave the gauze over the wound.Apply petroleum jelly (Vaseline) around the affected skin area or wound to prevent the medication from reaching healthy skin.Store away from moisture, light, and heat. Store at room temperature. Keep the bottle tightly closed when not in use.

What happens if I miss the dose?

As soon as you recall, apply the missed dose. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed one and take only what's due at that time. Don't use extra medicine to compensate for a missed dose.

What happens if I overdose?

Hysept overdose is unlikely to be harmful. If anyone accidentally swallows the medication, seek emergency medical care or call Poison Help at 1-800-222-1222.

What should be avoided?

Avoid getting Hysept on your clothes or bed linens. Hysept can bleach fabric.

Interaction with other drug

Other drugs that you may take orally or even inject are unlikely to have any effect on sodium hypochlorite applied topically. Many drugs interact with each other. Inform your healthcare providers of all the medicines you take, including vitamins and herbal remedies.
