What is HyperRAB?

HyperRAB protects people who have recently been exposed to animals. HyperRAB must be given in conjunction with the full series of rabies vaccines. This medicine will not protect you against rabies.If you've had a previous rabies vaccination, HyperRAB is not necessary.HyperRAB can be used in other ways not mentioned in this guide.

Side effects of HyperRAB

In case of an allergic reaction, seek immediate medical help: hives, difficulty breathing, swelling of lips, face, tongue or throat.

HyperRAB can cause serious side effects. If you experience:

  • Fever; chills
  • Dark urine

HyperRAB can cause the following side effects:

  • Headache;
  • Cold symptoms like a stuffy nose and sneezing, sore neck
  • Stomach pain, gas, diarrhea;
  • Muscle pain;
  • Pain, swelling, itching, or a hard lump at the site of the injection.

Warnings

HyperRAB should be given in conjunction with the full series of Rabies vaccines. HyperRAB alone will not protect you against rabies.

Before you take this drug

Inform your doctor if any of the following apply to you:

  • An allergic reaction to human immunoglobulin;
  • An immunoglobulin A (iga) deficiency;
  • Heart problems
  • Coronary artery disease
  • A blood clot or stroke
  • A blood cell or blood-clotting disorder;
  • High triglycerides
  • An "in-dwelling" catheter;
  • If you've been bedridden,

Inform your doctor if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.HyperRAB, which is made of donated plasma from humans, may contain viruses and other infectious agents. Plasma is treated and tested to reduce the chance of contamination. However, there is still some risk. You should ask your doctor if there are any risks.

How to take HyperRAB?

HyperRAB can be injected directly into the muscle or into the area around the animal bite or scratch that exposes you to the virus. An injection will be provided by a healthcare provider.HyperRAB can be given within seven days of receiving the first dose of the rabies vaccination.If you do not receive the full recommended dose of rabies vaccination, your protection may be compromised.

What happens if I miss the dose?

HyperRAB does not require a daily schedule of dosing.

What happens if I overdose?

HyperRAB can only be administered by healthcare professionals in a medical environment. Overdoses are unlikely.

What should be avoided?

Avoid receiving a "live vaccine" while using HyperRAB and for 3 months afterwards. It may not protect you as well or work as effectively. Live vaccines are measles, mumps, and rubella (MMR), rotavirus, typhoid, yellow fever, varicella (the chicken pox), and zoster shingles.Wait at least four months after HyperRAB treatment before getting a measles vaccination.

Interaction with other drug

Inform your doctor of all other medications you are taking, including birth-control pills and hormone replacement therapy.HyperRAB may be affected by other drugs, such as prescription and over-the-counter medicines, vitamins, and herbal products. Notify your physician of all medications you are currently taking as well as those you plan on starting or stopping using.
