What is Hydroxyquinoline?

To prevent bad odors, hydroxyquinoline is used in the vagina to maintain a healthy pH level.Hydroxyquinoline can be used to deodorize and lubricate the vagina and prevent bacteria growth. Women who wear vaginal pessaries (a device that is inserted into vaginal tissue to support pelvic organs for women with prolapsed or other pelvic issues) are often prescribed hydroxyquinoline.This medication guide does not list all uses of hydroxyquinoline.

Side effects of Hydroxyquinoline

If you experience any of the following symptoms of an allergic reaction, seek immediate medical attention: hives, difficulty breathing, swelling of the face, lips, or throat.

If you have an allergy to hydroxyquinoline, this medication should be avoided.Tell your doctor about any allergies you may have to ensure that you can use hydroxyquinoline safely.Before you begin using hydroxyquinoline, let your doctor know if you are currently using a vaginal penis.Do not use hydroxyquinoline while pregnant. Inform your doctor immediately if a pregnancy occurs during treatment.Do not use hydroxyquinoline for 6 hours after sexual activity if you are actively trying to get pregnant.The hydroxyquinoline does not pass into breast milk. It is also unknown if hydroxyquinoline could harm a baby who is nursing. You should not take this medication if you are breastfeeding a child.

How to take Hydroxyquinoline?

Do not exceed the dosage prescribed by your physician. Use only the recommended dosage. Do not exceed it. Follow the instructions on your prescription label.You may need to change the dose from time to time if you want to get the best possible results.The patient instructions accompany this medication and ensure that it is used safely and effectively. If you have questions, ask your doctor or pharmacist.Only use the bulb applicator that comes with the medication to inject the gel into the vagina.Consult your doctor about whether you should take hydroxyquinoline when you are menstruating.Store away from heat, moisture, and light. When not in use, keep the tube cap tightly shut.After each use, flush the bulb applicator several times with water. After each use, wipe the cap and tip of the tube of medicine.

What happens if I miss the dose?

As soon as you recall, take the missed dose. If your next scheduled dosage is approaching, skip the missed dose. You should not take extra medicine to compensate for a missed dose.

What happens if I overdose?

What should be avoided?

Avoid getting the medication in your nose, mouth, or eyes. If you do get it in your eyes, nose, or mouth, rinse immediately with water.

Interaction with other drug

Other drugs that you may take orally or even inject are unlikely to have any effect on the hydroxyquinoline in your vagina. Many drugs interact. Tell your doctor about all the medicines you use. Included are prescription, over-the-counter, vitamin, and herbal products. Never start a new medicine without consulting your doctor.
