What is Hydro 40?

This leaflet does not list all the brands or forms of topical urea available.This medicine is also used to soften damaged fingernails or toenails so they can be removed without a data-type="auto" href="https://www.drugs.com/condition/surgery.html">surgery/a>. The medicine can also be used to soften toenails and fingernails that are damaged so they may be easily removed.Hydro 40 can be used in other ways not mentioned in the medication guide.

Side effects of Hydro 40

If you experience any of the following symptoms of an allergy reaction, seek immediate medical attention: Hives, difficulty breathing, swelling in your lips, face, throat, or tongue

Hydrogen 40 may cause serious side effects. Hydro 40 should be stopped immediately, and you need to consult your doctor if:

  • Severe redness and irritation on the treated skin.

Side effects that may occur from Hydro 40 include:

  • Itching is mild.
  • Mild burning or stinging.

Before you take this drug

If you have an allergy to Hydro 40, then it is best not to use this product.FDA pregnancy class CThere is no information on whether Hydro 40 can harm a baby. If you're pregnant, do not take Hydro 40 without consulting your doctor.The urea does not pass into the breast milk. It is also unknown if it can harm nursing babies. If you're breastfeeding a child, do not take this medication without consulting your doctor.

How to take Hydro 40?

Hydro 40 comes in many forms for application to the skin and scalp (creams, lotions, ointments, liquids, gels, foams, etc.). Follow the directions on your label or those prescribed by your physician. Use the recommended dose and do not exceed it.Hydro 40 is not to be taken by mouth. Hydro 40 should only be used on the skin. Rinse with water if this medicine gets into your eyes, nose, or mouth.Wash the area of skin or nails to be treated with a mild cleanser or soap. It may be best to apply Hydro 40 after the affected skin or nails are slightly moist.This medicine should be applied as thinly as possible to the affected skin and rubbed in.Avoid getting Hydro 40 on your cuticles and surrounding skin when applying it to your nails. Allow the medication to dry before applying it generously. If your doctor recommends it, you can cover the nail with gauze or a bandage. After a few days, the treated nail can be removed easily.

Be sure to shake the Hydro 40 Foam before every use. Shake other forms of the medicine before using them. Please follow all instructions on the medicine's label.After applying the medicine to your skin, wash your hands thoroughly with soap and warm water.If your symptoms don't improve or worsen while taking Hydro 40, call your doctor.Keep away from heat and moisture. Store at room temperature. Keep the product at room temperature and out of moisture and heat sources.When not being used, keep the container of medicine tightly sealed.The foam canister should be kept away from flames or heat. If the canister gets too warm, it may explode. Empty foam canisters should not be punctured or burned.

What happens if I miss the dose?

As soon as possible, take the dose you missed. If your next dose is approaching, skip the missed dose. You should not take extra medication to compensate for a missed dose.

What happens if I overdose?

Call 1-800-222-1222 for poison help or seek immediate medical attention.

What should be avoided?

Hydro 40 should not be used in areas with open wounds or burns. Rinse with water if this medicine gets into your eyes, nostrils, mouth, vagina, or rectum.

Interaction with other drug

The urea applied topically is unlikely to be affected by other drugs that you may take orally or even inject. Many drugs interact. Inform your healthcare providers of all the medicines that you take, including any prescription or over-the-counter medicines, herbal remedies, and vitamins.
