What is GlipiZIDE XL?

GlipiZIDE is used in conjunction with diet and physical activity to control blood sugar levels among adults with type 2 diabetes mellitus. GlipiZIDE XL does not treat type 1 diabetes.GlipiZIDE® XL can be used in other ways not mentioned in this guide.

Side effects of GlipiZIDE XL

Immediately seek medical care if any of the following symptoms of an allergic reaction appear: hives, difficulty breathing and swelling of lips, face, tongue or throat.

If any of the following symptoms arise, consult a medical provider immediately:

  • Headache, irritability
  • Sweating, fast heart rate;
  • Dizziness, nausea,
  • Hunger, anxiety, or feeling shaky

Glipizide® xl can cause the following side effects:

  • Diarrhoea, constipation, gas;
  • Dizziness, drowsiness;
  • Tremors
  • Skin rash or itching.

GlipiZIDE XL should not be used if you suffer from diabetic ketoneacidosis. Consult your doctor to get treatment.

Before you take this drug

GlipiZIDE XL XL should not be used if you are allergic or have diabetic ketoacidosis. Consult your doctor to get treatment.

Inform your physician of any of the following issues:

  • Liver or kidney disease+
  • Chronic diarrhoea or a blockage of your intestines
  • An enzyme deficiency called glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase deficiency (G6PD).

You should follow your doctor's instructions when using this medication during pregnancy. You may have to temporarily stop taking GlipiZIDE XL just before your due date.Breastfeeding may not be possible while taking this medication. You should consult your doctor if you are concerned about any risks.

How to take GlipiZIDE XL?

As soon as your medication arrives, read through and comply with its accompanying guidelines or instructions.Sometimes, your doctor will change the dose.Your medication must be taken exactly as instructed.GlipiZIDE® XL Regular Tablets 30 minutes before the first meal of the morningGlipiZIDE® XL Extended-Release Tablets can be taken with the first meal of the morning.Never chew, crush or break a tablet.You may also need blood tests in your doctor's clinic.If you have low blood glucose (hypoglycemia), then you may feel very hungry or dizzy. You might also be confused, anxious, or confused. If you want to treat hyperglycemia quickly, consume or drink sugary foods or drinks (fruit juices, hard candies, crackers, or raisins).In the event of severe hypoglycemia, your doctor may prescribe a glucagon injectable kit. Make sure that your family and friends are familiar with how to administer this injection in case of an emergency.Watch for signs of hyperglycemia (hyperglycemia), such as increased thirst and urination.Stress, illness, surgery, or alcohol consumption can affect blood sugar levels. Consult your doctor before adjusting your medication or dose schedule.GlipiZIDE XL is available in some forms that have a shell that does not absorb or melt into the body. Some of the shell from the tablet may be found in your stool. This is not a serious side effect, and the medication will still be effective.Store away from moisture, heat, and light at room temperature.

What happens if I miss the dose?

You should take your dose as soon as you can, but only when you are about to eat. Skip the missed dose if you miss a meal and wait until the next meal. Do not take more than one dose at once.Refill your prescription before you run out.

What happens if you overdose?

Call Poison Help at 1-800-222-1222 or seek emergency medical care. An overdose of GlipiZIDE® XL® XL can lead to life-threatening hypoglycemia. Call 1-800-222-1222 for help.Hypoglycemia can cause extreme weakness, blurred eyesight, sweating, and difficulty speaking. Other symptoms include tremors (convulsions), stomach pains, confusion, and seizures.

What should be avoided?

Avoid alcohol. Alcohol can lower blood sugar levels and cause adverse effects.Do not drive or operate machinery until you have fully understood how GlipiZIDE XL XL affects you.

Interaction with other drug

At times it may not be safe to combine certain medications.Some drugs may affect the blood levels of drugs that you are taking, causing side effects or making them less effective.GlipiZide XL can be affected by many drugs. These include prescription and over-the-counter medicines, vitamins, and herbal products. This list does not encompass all possible interactions; therefore, inform your physician of all medications taken currently as well as those you plan on discontinuing or starting using in the near future.
