What is GenTeal?

This leaflet does not list all the brands or forms of ocular lubricant. GenTeal can be used by adults to relieve the burning, irritation, and discomfort of dry eyes. GenTeal can be used in other ways not mentioned in this guide.

Side effects of GenTeal

If you experience any of the following symptoms of an allergic reaction, seek immediate medical attention: difficulty breathing, hives, swelling of your lips, face, or throat.

If you experience:

  • After using the medication, you may experience severe eye irritation, burning, stinging, or tingling.
  • Eye pain
  • Vision changes

GenTeal side effects may include

  • Mild eye irritation or burning;
  • Itching or redness in your eyes
  • Watery eye
  • Blurred vision
  • Light sensitivity

Warnings

GenTeal should not be used to treat or prevent eye infections.

Before you take this drug

GenTeal should not be used if you have an allergy to it. This medication will not prevent or treat an eye infection. If you suspect that you may have an infection, ask your doctor or pharmacist whether GenTeal is safe to use.

How to take GenTeal?

Read all instructions or guides that come with your medication and follow all directions. Follow the directions on the label. GenTeal should be used only after washing your hands. GenTeal should not be used. Call your pharmacist immediately if it appears cloudy or if its colour has changed.Avoid touching the tip or placing it directly on your eye. The tip of the eye dropper or ointment tube can cause serious vision problems if it is contaminated. If your symptoms don't improve or worsen while taking GenTeal, call your doctor. Store away from heat and moisture at room temperature.

What happens if I miss the dose?

GenTeal can be used as needed. You can skip any missed dose if you have a regular dosing schedule. Never use two doses in one go.

What happens if I overdose?

Overdoses of ocular moisturiser are not dangerous. If anyone accidentally swallows the medication, call 1-800-222-1222 or the Poison Help Line for immediate medical attention.

Avoid this

GenTeal can cause blurred vision. Do not drive or do any hazardous activities until you have determined how GenTeal will affect you. You should only use eye drops prescribed by your doctor.

Interaction with other drugs

Other drugs that you take are unlikely to affect the medicine used on your eyes. Many drugs interact. Tell your doctor all the medications you are taking, including over-the-counter and prescription drugs, vitamins, and herbal remedies.
