What is Gas-X Extra Strength?

Gas X

Extra Strength is used to relieve the painful pressure that can be caused by excessive gas in your stomach or intestines. This medicine can be used by babies, children, and adults. This medication guide does not list all possible uses for Gas-X Extra Strength.

Side effects of Gas-X Extra Strength 

If you experience any of the following signs of an allergic reaction, seek immediate medical care: hives, difficulty breathing and facial or throat swelling. Before you take this drug

Gas-X Extra Strength should not be used if you have an allergy to it. If you are allergic or have a serious illness, such as one that affects the stomach or intestines, ask your doctor or pharmacist if Gas-X Extra Strength is safe to use. Consult a medical expert prior to taking this medication while pregnant or nursing. If you suffer from Phenylketonuria (PKU), speak to your healthcare provider before using simethicone products in this form. Additionally, speak to them before considering this form for use as it could potentially trigger PKU symptoms in those taking certain medicines for PKU.

How to take Gas-X Extra Strength?

Follow all instructions outlined on your label or those given to you by your physician. Take only the prescribed dose of this medication. It is best to take Gas-X Extra Strength after eating and before bedtime. The chewable tablet must be chewed before it can be swallowed. Measuring liquid medicine is important. Use the provided dosing device or a dose-measuring tool (not a spoon) to measure liquid medicine. Mix Gas-X liquid drops with water, formula, or any other liquid to make it easier for a child or infant to swallow. Follow the directions on the label of the medicine when giving Gas-X to a child. If the symptoms do not improve after taking this medicine, contact your pediatrician immediately. While using Gas-X, you may need to increase your physical activity or follow a special dietary plan. Please follow all directions from your doctor or dietitian. Learn which foods you should eat and avoid in order to control your condition. Store away from heat, moisture, and light. The liquid form of the medicine should not be allowed to freeze.

What happens if I miss the dose?

You may not have a regular dosing regimen since Gas-X Extra Strength is only used as needed. If it is almost time for the next dose, skip any missed dose. Never take two doses in one go.

What happens if I overdose?

Call 1-800-222-1222 for poison help or seek immediate medical attention.

What should be avoided?

Ask your doctor about antacids, and only use the ones that your doctor has prescribed. Some

antacids

may contain Gas-X Extra Strength.

Interaction with other drug

Gas-X Extra Strength may be affected by other drugs, such as prescription and over-the-counter medications,

vitamins,

and

herbal remedies

. Inform your doctor of all the medicines you are taking and those that you stop or start using.
