What is Fungi-Guard?

Tolnaftate fights infections that are caused by fungus. Fungi Guard (for the skin) is used to treat infections like athlete's feet (tinea-pedis), jock itch (tinea cruris), and ringworms (tinea corporis). Tolnaftate can also be used in conjunction with other antifungals for infections of the nail, scalp, palms, and soles. This medication guide does not list all possible uses of Fungi Guard.

Side effects of Fungi-Guard

If you experience any of the following signs of an allergic reaction, seek immediate medical assistance: difficulty breathing, hives or any swelling to lips, face, tongue or throat. If you experience skin irritation following the application of Fungi Guard, stop using FungiGuard immediately and contact your doctor. Some common side effects include mild itching or dryness of the treated skin. There may be other side effects. For medical advice on side effects, call your doctor. Before you take this drug

Fungi Guard should not be used if you have an allergy to it. If you suffer from other medical conditions, ask your doctor or pharmacist whether it's safe to use Fungi Guard. Fungi Guard is not known to harm unborn babies. If you are pregnant, do not take this medication without consulting your doctor. Tolnaftate is not known to pass into breast milk. It's also unknown if it can harm a baby who is nursing. If you are breastfeeding a child, do not use this medication without consulting your doctor. Do not administer this medicine to an infant without consulting a doctor.

How to take Fungi-Guard?

Do not exceed the recommended dosage or duration. Use the recommended dose and do not exceed it. Do not swallow. Fungi Guard is only for skin use. This medicine should not be used on wounds that are open, sunburned, windburned, chapped, or irritated. Rinse off with water if this medication comes into contact with your eyes, nose or mouth. Avoid covering the treated area with a bandage, which does not allow for air circulation. Use a cotton-gauze dressing over the treated skin area to protect your clothes. You should wash your hands both before and after using this medication, unless it is to treat an infection on your hands. Tolnafate topical should be applied to clean, dry skin. If your symptoms remain unchanged or worsen, don't wait - contact a medical provider as soon as possible. Store at room temperature away from moisture or heat and tightly sealed when not being used.

What happens if I miss the dose?

As soon as you recall, apply the missed doseIf it's nearly time for your next dose, skip the missed one and go straight for your scheduled pill.Don't use extra medicine to compensate for a missed dose.

What happens if I overdose?

Overdoses of Fungi Guard are not considered dangerous.Should someone accidentally take medication by mouth, seek emergency medical help immediately and contact the Poison Help Line at 1-800-222-1222 immediately for advice and treatment.

What should be avoided?

If FungiGuard gets into your eyes, rinse with water. Avoid wearing clothing made of synthetic materials that is too tight. Wear loose-fitting cotton or other natural fiber clothing until your infection has healed.

Interaction with other drug

Tolnaftate, applied topically, is unlikely to interact with other drugs that you may take orally or inject. Many drugs interact with each other. Inform your healthcare providers of all the medicines you take, including prescriptions, over-the-counter medicines, vitamins, and herbal products.
