What is FreshKote?

This leaflet does not list all the brands or forms of ocular lubricant. Adults can use FreshKote to relieve the burning, irritation, and discomfort of dry eyes. FreshKote can be used in other ways not mentioned in this guide.

Side effects of FreshKote

If you experience any of the following signs and symptoms of an allergic reaction: difficulty breathing, hives, facial, throat or lips swelling and/or difficulty swallowing; seek medical help immediately: difficulty in taking deep breaths, hives or facial, lip or throat swelling. If you experience any of the following symptoms, stop using FreshKote immediately and contact your doctor.

  • After taking your medication, you may experience eye irritation such as burning or stinging sensations.
  • Eye pain
  • Vision changes

Some of the side effects that FreshKote can cause include:

  • Mild eye irritation or burning;
  • Itching or redness in your eyes
  • Watery eyes
  • Blurred vision
  • Light sensitivity

Warnings

Do not use FreshKote for treating or preventing an eye infection.

Before you take this drug

FreshKote should not be used if you have an allergy to it. The medicine does not treat an eye infection or prevent it. If you suspect that you may have an infection, ask your doctor or pharmacist whether it's safe to use FreshKote. Inform your doctor if you are pregnant or nursing.

How to take FreshKote?

Read all instructions or guides that come with your medication and follow all instructions on the label. Follow the directions on the label. FreshKote should be used only after washing your hands. FreshKote should not be used, and you should contact your pharmacist immediately if it appears cloudy or if its color has changed. Avoid touching or placing directly onto your eye the tip of an eyedropper or ointment tube as touching or placing directly can result in serious vision impairment if it becomes contaminated with germs. If your symptoms don't improve or worsen while you are using FreshKote, call your doctor. Store products away from heat and moisture at room temperature.

What happens if I miss the dose?

FreshKote can be used as needed. You can skip missed doses if you have a schedule. Never use two doses in one go.

What happens if I overdose?

Overdoses of ocular moisturizer are not dangerous. If anyone accidentally swallows the medication, call 1-800-222-1222 or the Poison Help Line for immediate medical attention.

What should be avoided?

FreshKote can cause blurred vision. Do not drive or do any hazardous activities until you have determined how the medicine will affect you. You should only use eye drops prescribed by your doctor.

Interaction with other drug

As with other medicines that you take, those used on your eyes should likely not be negatively impacted by other prescription or over-the-counter medicines, vitamins or herbal products that you take. Therefore it's best to inform your healthcare provider of all medications taken - both prescription, OTC medicines, vitamins or herbal products that you are currently taking.
