Fostex Wash 10%

What is Fostex Wash 10%?

Benzoyl peroxide is antibacterial. This mildly drying effect enables dirt and excess oils to be easily washed off the skin, helping you to leave with fresher-looking skin. Fostex wash 10% (for skin) is used for acne treatment. Benzoyl Peroxide is available in many different brands and forms. This leaflet does not list all brands. Fostex 10% can be used in other ways not mentioned in this guide.

Side Effects of Fostex Wash 10%

Fostex 10% may cause an allergic reaction, which is rare but can be serious. It can also cause severe skin irritation. These reactions can occur within minutes of applying the medicine or even a day later. If you experience any of the following symptoms, stop using Fostex 10% Wash and seek emergency medical attention: hives; itching; difficulty breathing; feeling lightheaded; swelling on your face, lips, or tongue; or swelling in your throat, face, lips, or tongue.

If any of the following side effects occur while taking benzoyl, stop taking it immediately and contact your healthcare provider immediately:

  • Itching or burning that is severe
  • A severe stinging sensation or redness.
  • Swelling;

Fostex Wash 10% can cause the following side effects:

  • Mild stinging or mild burning
  • Itching or tingling feeling
  • Skin dryness, flaking, or peeling;
  • Redness or other irritation.

Warnings

Benzoyl peroxide may cause serious allergic reactions, including hives or itching as well as skin irritation and severe discomfort. If you experience any of these symptoms, stop using the medicine immediately.

Before you take this drug

If you are allergic or have any of the following:

  • Very sensitive skin

If you suffer from skin problems or allergies, ask your doctor or pharmacist whether Fostex Wash 10% can be used safely. Consult your doctor before taking this medication if you're pregnant or nursing. This medicine should not be used on children without consulting a doctor.

How to take Fostex Wash 10%?

You can apply a small amount of the medicine to 1 or 2 small acne areas every day for 3 days in a row to test if there is a reaction. Every day, apply a small amount of medicine to one or two small acne spots. On the fourth day, if there has been no adverse reaction to your medication, you may use all that has been prescribed. Follow the directions on the label or those issued by your physician. Fostex 10% Wash should only be taken by mouth; topical medicines must only be applied topically. Use only on skin that has not been injured, sunburnt, windburned or otherwise inflamed; do not apply it over open wounds, sunburnt skin or areas with eczema unless they have healed before taking this medication. After applying medication, be sure to thoroughly wash your hands. Skin that requires treatment should be cleansed and patted dry, before applying a thin layer of benzoyl peroxide and gently massaging it into place. Please read and follow all instructions that accompany your medication, if there are any that you don't understand please consult your doctor or pharmacist for help.

Before each use, always ensure to shake the medication well. Cover the area under treatment only upon being instructed by your physician. Benzoyl peroxide bleaches fabrics or hair. Do not let this medication come into contact with either. Your symptoms may take several weeks to improve; continue taking the prescribed medication according to its directions, and notify your physician if there is no improvement in symptoms. Store away from heat and moisture at room temperature.

What happens if I miss the dose?

If it's close to time for your next dose, skip any missed one and wait.Never apply two doses at once.

What happens if I overdose?

Call 1-800-222-1222 for poison help or seek immediate medical attention.

What should be avoided?

If Fostex Wash 10% accidentally gets into your eyes or mouth, rinse with water. Avoid skin products that can cause irritation. These include harsh soaps and shampoos, permanent hair dyes or chemicals, hair removal or waxes, as well as skin products containing alcohol, spices, astringents, or lime. Avoid tanning beds or exposure to the sun. When outdoors, always wear protective clothing and use sunblock with SPF 30 protection or higher.

Interaction with other drug

Benzoyl peroxide can lead to severe skin irritation when applied while also using topical medicines that contain tretinoin, such as Avita Renova Retin-A and Treti-X. Other medications you take are unlikely to interfere with the medicine you apply directly to your skin. Many drugs interact with each other. Inform your healthcare providers of all the medicines you take, including prescriptions, over-the-counter medicines, vitamins, and herbal products.
