What is EC-Naprosyn?
EC-Naprosyn is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory medication (NSAID).EC-Naprosyn can be used to treat inflammation or pain caused by ailments like arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, bursitis, tendinitis, or menstrual cramps.
These extended-release tablets of naproxen are slower-acting forms used exclusively to treat chronic conditions, such as arthritis or ankylosing spondylitis. EC-Naprosyn may also be prescribed for other purposes not listed here.
Side effects of EC-Naprosyn
Seek medical attention immediately when you are experiencing symptoms or warning signs of an allergic reaction (runny or stuffy noses, wheezing or difficulty breathing, hives, or swelling in your throat or face) or an extreme skin reaction (fever or sore throat, eye burning, irritation, or the skin is red or purple with peeling and blisters).Stop taking EC-Naprosyn. Seek medical attention when you experience a severe reaction to a drug that affects the body in a variety of ways. Symptoms may include the appearance of a skin rash or fever, swollen glands, muscle aches, extreme weakness, and unusual bruising or redness of your eyes or skin.

EC-Naprosyn may cause serious side effects. Stop using EC Naprosyn and notify your physician immediately. If you suffer from:
- Breathlessness (even when exerting only a little);
- Weight gain, swelling, or rapid weight gain
- The first indication of any skin rash or blister, regardless of the severity;
- Indications of stomach bleeding: bloody or black stools, vomiting blood, or spit that looks like coffee grounds
- Liver disorders (nausea) nausea, stomach pain in the upper part of the stomach, nausea, a loss of appetite dark urine, stools that are clay-colored, and jaundice (yellowing of the eyes or skin);
- Kidney problems: no or little urine; painless urination; swelling in your feet and ankles;
- Red blood cells are low (anemia)—pale skin, uncharacteristically tired, feeling faint or lightheaded, cold hands and feet.
Common negative side effects of EC Naprosyn can be:
- Headache;
- Indigestion, heartburn, stomach pains,
- Flu symptoms;

Prior to use this drug
EC-Naprosyn may increase the chances of suffering a fatal stroke or heart attack, even if you do not have risk factors. Don't take this medication immediately prior to or after the procedure for heart bypass (coronary bypass grafts for the artery, also known as CABG).The EC-Naprosyn drug can also cause diarrhea or stomach bleeding, which could be fatal. This can happen in a matter of minutes while taking this medication, and it is more common among older adults.
It is not recommended to use EC-Naprosyn in the event that you are allergic to it or if you've previously experienced an asthma attack or an extreme allergic reaction after using aspirin or an NSAID.Consult a physician before giving EC-Naprosyn to children less than 12 years old.
Consult a pharmacist or doctor for a recommendation on whether this medicine is suitable for use if you are:
- Coronary disease, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, diabetes, or if you smoke
- A stroke, heart attack, or blood clot
- Bleeding stomach ulcers or stomach ulcers;
- Asthma;
- Kidney disease or liver failure;
- Fluid retention;
- If you take aspirin to stop heart attacks or strokes,
If you are expecting and you are taking EC-Naprosyn until your doctor has advised that you should, Taking an NSAID in the last twenty weeks of pregnancy could result in serious kidney or heart issues in the baby who is not born and may cause complications during the pregnancy.It is not recommended to breastfeed while taking this medication. Talk to your doctor about any potential risks.
How to take EC-Naprosyn?
Take exactly as indicated on the label or as recommended by your physician. Make sure you are using the dosage that works for treating your illness.Make sure to shake off the oral suspension (liquid) prior to taking a dosage. You can measure a dose using the measuring device provided (not an ordinary spoon).Use EC-Naprosyn in conjunction with milk or food to help soothe stomach upsets.Always follow the directions on the label of the medicine about the dosage of this medication for children. The doses of EC-Naprosyn are based on the weight of children. Your child's dosage requirements could alter if your child gains and/or loses weight.
If you are using EC-Naprosyn for a long time, you might require frequent medical tests.This medication can alter the outcomes of certain medical tests. What happens if I miss the dose?
Because EC-Naprosyn can be used as required, you might not be following a dose schedule. Don't miss any doses missed when it's time to take the next dose. Do not take two doses at once.

What should be avoided?
Do not drink alcohol. This can increase the chance of bleeding from your stomach.Do not take aspirin or any other non-steroidal antidote except if your physician advises you to.Consult a physician or pharmacist before taking other medicines to treat swelling, pain, fever, or other symptoms of the cold or flu. They could contain ingredients similar to EC-Naprosyn (such as aspirin, ibuprofen, and ketoprofen).Consult your physician before taking an antacid. Use only the kind recommended by your physician. Certain anti-inflammatory medications could make the body's absorption of EC Naprosyn more difficult.
