What is Dok Plus?

Docusate softens stools. Senna works as a laxative. Dok Plus contains a combination of medicines that are used to treat constipation. Dok Plus can be used in other ways not mentioned in this guide.

Side effects of Dok Plus

If you experience any of the following symptoms of an allergic reaction, seek immediate medical attention: hives, difficulty breathing, swelling of your lips, face, tongue, or throat.

Dok Plus may cause serious side effects. Do not use Dok Plus if:

  • Rectal bleeding
  • Severe stomach pain, nausea, and vomiting;
  • No bowel movement.

Dok plus side effects may include:

  • Gas, bloating;
  • Diarrhea;
  • Mild nausea

Before you take this drug

Do not use Dok Plus if you are allergic to docusate and senna or taking mineral oils.

If you have had any of the following:

  • Nausea or vomiting;
  • Stomach pain;
  • Abrupt change of bowel habits that lasts more than 2 weeks
  • An intestinal disorder such as Crohn’s disease or ulcerative colitis

Consult your doctor before taking this medication if you're pregnant or nursing. This medicine should not be given to children younger than 2 without consulting a doctor.

How to take Dok Plus?

Follow the instructions on the label or those prescribed by your doctor. Dok Plus should be taken with a glass of water. Take this medication at night or before you go to bed. Dok Plus will cause you to pass a stool within 6–12 hours. Dok Plus should not be taken for more than seven consecutive days, unless you are told to by your doctor. If your constipation doesn't improve after taking Dok Plus or worsens, call your doctor. Store away from heat and moisture at room temperature.

What happens if I miss the dose?

Dok Plus can be used as needed, and you don't need to follow a schedule. If it is almost time for the next dose, skip any missed dose. Never take two doses in one go.

What happens if I overdose?

Call 1-800-222-1222 for poison help or seek immediate medical attention. Symptoms of an overdose include nausea, vomiting, and stomach pain or diarrhea.

What should be avoided?

Before using any laxatives or stool softeners that contain similar ingredients to docusate and senna, consult your doctor or pharmacist.

Interaction with other drug

Dok Plus may be affected by other drugs, such as prescription and over-the-counter medicines, vitamins, and herbal products.Notify your doctor of all medicines you are currently taking or planning to start or stop taking.
