What is Cem-urea?

This leaflet does not list all the brands or forms of topical urea available. Cem-urea is used on the skin to soften rough, dry skin that may be caused by skin disorders like eczema or psoriasis. This medicine may also be used to soften damaged toenails and fingernails so they may be easily extracted. Cem-urea can also be used in other ways not mentioned in this guide.

Side effects of  Cem-urea

If you experience any of the following signs and symptoms of an allergic reaction: hives, difficulty breathing or swelling of your face, lips or throat - get medical help immediately!

Cem-urea can cause serious side effects. Cem-urea should be stopped immediately, and you should consult your doctor if:

  • Severe redness or irritation on the treated skin.

Cem-urea can cause the following side effects:

  • Itching is mild.
  • Mild burning or stinging.

There may be other side effects. Call your physician if experiencing symptoms related to any side effects; alternatively, contact the fda's consumer response division on 1800 fda-1088 in order to report adverse events.

Before you take this drug

If you have an allergy to cem-urea, do not use it. Fda pregnancy class c there is no information on whether cem-urea can harm an unborn child. If you are pregnant, do not use cem urea without consulting your doctor. Urea topical is currently unknown to pass into breast milk or pose any potential harm for nursing babies, so if you are breastfeeding a child it would be prudent to consult your physician prior to using any such medications.

How to take Cem-urea?

Cem-urea comes in many forms for application to the scalp or skin (cream, lotions, ointments, liquids, gels, foams, etc.). Follow the directions on the label or those prescribed by your physician. Take only the recommended dosage and do not go beyond it. Avoid taking cem-urea by mouth. Cem-urea should only be used on the skin. Rinse off with water immediately if this medication enters your eyes, nose or mouth. Apply a mild cleanser or soap to the area requiring treatment on skin or nails before beginning treatments.. Cem-urea works best when the skin or nails to be treated are slightly dampened before the medication is applied. Apply a thin coating of the medicine to the affected skin. Rub it in as thoroughly as possible.

Avoid getting cem-urea on the skin or cuticles when applying it to the nails. Allow the medicine to dry before applying generously. If your doctor recommends it, you can cover the nail with a bandage. After a few days, the treated nail can be removed easily. Before each use, shake the cem-urea foam well. Shake other forms of the medicine before using them. Please follow all the instructions on the medicine label. After applying the medicine, wash your hands with soap or water, unless it is to treat your skin.

If your symptoms don't improve or worsen while taking cem-urea, call your doctor. Store away from moisture or heat at room temperature. Store at room temperature, away from moisture and heat. When not in use, keep the container tightly closed. The foam canister should be kept away from flames or heat. If the canister gets too warm, it may explode. Empty foam canisters should not be punctured or burned.

What happens if i miss the dose?

As soon as you recall, take the missed dose. If your next scheduled dosage is approaching, skip the missed dose. You should not take extra medicine to compensate for a missed dose.

What happens if i overdose?

Call 1-800-222-1222 for poison help or seek immediate medical attention.

What should be avoided?

Cem-urea should not be used on areas of open wounds, burned skin, or swollen tissue. Rinse with water if this medication enters your eyes, nose, or mouth.

Interaction with other drug

The urea applied topically is unlikely to be affected by other drugs that you may take orally or even inject. Many drugs interact with each other. Inform your healthcare providers of all the medicines you take, including vitamins and herbal remedies.
