What is Aclidinium?

Aclidinium is a bronchodilator.

Aclidinium helps reduce asthmatic bronchospasm in adults who suffer from persistent asthma, emphysema, and other types associated with COPD (chronic obstructive pulmonary disease).

Aclidinium is also used to treat conditions that are not covered in this medication guideline.

Before You Take This Drug

Aclidinium is not a good option when you have an allergy to aclidinium or milk proteins.

For aclidinium to be suitable for you, inform your physician if you suffer from:

  • Narrow-angle glaucoma;

  • prostate enlarged

  • Urinary obstruction and other issues.

There is no way to determine if the medicine could harm the baby who is not yet born. Consult your physician if you are expecting or planning to fall pregnant.

There is no way to determine if the aclidinium is absorbed into milk or if it may affect a nursing child. Inform your physician if you are nursing a newborn.

Aclidinium is not certified to be used by anyone less than 18 years of age.

How to Take Aclidinium?

Make sure you follow all the instructions on your prescription label. Take this medication only in greater or lesser quantities or for a longer time than prescribed.

Aclidinium does not work as a cure. It is not fast enough to cure the symptoms of asthma. Make sure to use a quick-acting inhalation drug in the event of asthma attacks.

Aclidinium is an inhaler that includes a specially designed inhaler with preloaded doses of this medication. It delivers one dose every time you push an inhaler button.

Take note of all the patient information, such as medication guides and instruction sheets, that is provided to you. Talk to your pharmacist or doctor for assistance if you have concerns.Aclidinium is best used at regular intervals. Typically, it is at least every 12 hours.

Utilize aclidinium frequently to gain the maximum benefits. Make sure you refill your prescription before the medicine runs out completely.

Keep at room temperature, away from heat and humidity. Place the medication in its sealed container until you are ready to use it. Make sure to not keep the device for inhalation above any surface that is vibrating.

Toss the device in the trash for 45 days following the time you've removed it from the sealed pouch or the indicator for dose shows zero or that the device has been locked, or whichever occurs first. Each inhaler device contains 60 doses.

Details on the Dosage

Usual adult dose for chronic obstructive pulmonary disease—maintenance:

400 mg (1 inhalation) inhalation twice per day

treatment: long-term, long-term maintenance of bronchospasm as a result of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), which includes chronic bronchitis and emphysema.

What Happens if I Miss the Dose?

Take the dose you missed immediately after you recall it. Do not take the missed dose if you think it is getting close to the next scheduled dosage. Avoid using extra medicine to replace the missed dose.

What Should be Avoided?

If the medication is absorbed into your eyes, wash them with clean water

 Side effects of Aclidinium

Take immediate medical assistance. If you notice symptoms that indicate an allergic reaction, such as itching, hives, irritation, rash, wheezing, chest tightness, difficulty breathing, or swelling of your lips, face, throat, or tongue

Mild effects

  • Coughing, choking, or breathing issues when taking this medication.

  • Blurred vision, nausea, eyes ache, or the appearance of halos or bright lighting

  • An increase in urination; painful or difficult urination

  • Very little or no urinating

  • An increase in the symptoms

Adverse side effects

  • Nasal stuffiness, sore throat, and sinus pain

  • Cough

  • Headache

Interaction with other drugs

Discuss with your doctor any medications you currently take as well as any new medications you begin or stop taking. Especially:

  • Urinary or bladder medications like darifenacin, fesoterodine, solifenacin, and tolterodine

  • bronchodilators such as aclidinium, ipratropium, and tiotropium;

  • cold or allergy medication that includes an antihistamine
