What is Astiladrin?
Adstiladrin is a prescription-only gene therapy that is used in the treatment of a particular kind of bladder cancer.Adstiladrin includes nadofaragene firadenovec vncg, a non-replicating adenovirus vector-based therapy containing interferon alfa-2b.
Adstiladrin is directly injected into the bladder at intervals of three months. The treatment releases the interferon beta-2b gene into the bladder's cell wall, which leads to the bladder cells releasing high amounts of interferon alfa-2b, a naturally occurring protein used by the body in fighting cancer.
How to Take Adstiladrin?
Adstiladrin is a treatment for adult patients who have high-risk non-muscle-invasive bladder cancer (NMIBC) that hasn't responded to conventional treatments or Bacillus Calmette-Guerin (BCG).NMIBC is a form of bladder cancer that is found in the surface layer of the bladder. It has not penetrated further into the bladder or expanded to other parts of the body.
Individuals who suffer from immunosuppression or have a deficiency in their immune system should not make, administer, or come in contact with Adstiladrin.It is not recommended to undergo this treatment if you suffer from an allergy to interferon or any of its constituents.
Interaction With Other Drugs

Adstiladrin is taken directly into the bladder, which makes it most likely not to react with different drugs.
What is The Best Way to Receive Adstiladrin?
Every 3 months, your doctor will inject 75 mL (about 2 and a half pounds) of Adstiladrin into your bladder using the urinary catheter. Then they will keep it in your bladder for an hour. During this period, your doctor may change your position at intervals of 15 minutes.
Following each wash after each treatment, you must complete these steps in order to prepare your bathroom:

Add half a cup of bleach to the toilet bowl prior to going to the bathroom.

After you've urinated, wait for fifteen minutes before flushing your toilet.

Repeat these steps each time you have to urinate during the first 2 days following treatment.

Comments:
Premedication with an anticholinergic medication is recommended prior to any installation.
Instillation by intravesical means only
Allow Adstiladrin to sit within the bladder for one hour after installation.Use for the treatment of adults with Bacillus Calmette-Guerin (BCG)-unresponsive bladder cancer that is non-muscle invasive (NMIBC) with cancer located (CIS) and papillary cancers or no tumors.
