What is Dologesic DF?

Acetaminophen can be used to reduce fever and relieve pain. Antihistamines reduce the effects of the natural chemical histamine. Histamine may cause symptoms such as sneezing and itching. It can also produce watery eyes and a runny or stuffy nose. Dologesic is a combination medication used to treat minor aches and discomforts, including headaches, menstrual cramps, and fever. Dologesic is also used to treat itchy eyes or watery eyelids, as well as pain or fever due to the common flu and seasonal allergies. This medication guide does not list all possible uses of Dologesic DF.

Side effects of Dologesic DF

If you experience symptoms indicative of an allergic reaction, seek medical assistance immediately: hives, difficulty breathing or swelling to lips, face, tongue or throat. Acetaminophen can cause severe skin reactions that are fatal. This may happen even if you've taken it before and never had a reaction. Call your doctor immediately if the skin becomes red or you develop a rash. If blisters form and you peel them off, stop taking this medication.

This medication can cause serious side effects. If you experience:

  • Confusion, hallucinations, or unusual thoughts and behaviors;
  • Little or no urinating is acceptable.
  • Dark urine, clay-colored stools, fatigue, nausea, upper abdominal pain, itching, and an itchy feeling are all symptoms of jaundice.

Dologesic side effects may include:

  • Dizziness, drowsiness;
  • Feeling restless or excited, especially in children
  • Constipation;
  • Blurred vision
  • Dry throat, nose, or mouth.

Warnings

Don't take more than the recommended dose.An accidental overdose of acetaminophen can result in liver damage or death. Acetaminophen can cause severe skin reactions in rare cases. If you notice skin redness, a rash, blistering, or peeling, stop taking Dologesic DF immediately and contact your doctor.

Before you take this drug

This medication should not be taken if you have an allergy to acetaminophen or phenyltoloxamine.

If you have other medical conditions or concerns, consult with your physician or pharmacist prior to taking medicine. They should confirm if taking it will be safe.

  • COPD, asthma or any other breathing difficulties
  • Alcoholism or consumption of more than three alcoholic drinks a day are both symptoms.
  • Urination or prostate problems;
  • Glaucoma;
  • If you are also taking warfarin( Coumadin or Jantoven),

Dologesic DF shouldn't be given to a young child under 12 without consulting a doctor. This medicine is not known to harm unborn babies.if you are pregnant and considering taking this medicine without first consulting with your healthcare provider. This medication can pass into breastmilk and harm a nursing infant. Antihistamines can also reduce breast milk production. Do not use this medication without consulting your doctor if you're breastfeeding a child. Phenylalanine can be found in artificially sweetened liquid medicines.If you suffer from phenylketonuria, check the label of any medications taken.

How to take Dologesic DF?

Do not exceed the recommended dosage of dologesic DF. Acetaminophen overdoses can cause liver damage or death. Follow the directions on the label or those prescribed by your physician. Usually, this medicine is taken for only a few days until the symptoms disappear. Never give cough and cold medications to very young children without consulting a doctor.Use the provided dosing syringe or a dose-measuring cup or spoon to measure liquid medicines. Consult with your pharmacist if you don't possess a device for accurately measuring doses.

Do not take the medicine for longer than prescribed. Call your doctor immediately if you experience:

  • You still have a high temperature after using the product for 3 days.
  • Do you still feel pain after 10 days?
  • Your symptoms get worse.
  • You have redness or swelling.

Tell your doctor or surgeon, if you've taken this medication within the last few days, if you are going to need medical testing or surgery.Store away from moisture or heat at room temperature. Liquid medicines should not be allowed to freeze.

What happens if I miss the dose?

Your medication may only need to be taken when necessary; thus you should adjust its schedule as required. Should a missed dose occur unexpectedly and its next scheduled dosage approaches, take it immediately upon becoming aware. Otherwise, skip it. Do not double up on medication just in case a dose was missed in any given week; simply do not add extra medicine in to make up for any missed ones!

What happens if I overdose?

Call the Poison Help Line at 1-800-222-1222 or seek emergency medical care. Acetaminophen overdoses can be deadly. Loss of appetite, nausea and vomiting, abdominal pain, sweating, or confusion are the first signs of an overdose of acetaminophen. Other symptoms include dark urine and yellowing skin or whites of the eyes.

What should be avoided?

Avoid alcohol. Alcohol can cause liver damage and increase the side effects of phenyltoloxamine.Before using any medication for colds, allergies, pain relief or sleep issues it is advisable to consult a healthcare provider or pharmacist first. Many combination products contain Acetaminophen which if taken together could result in overdosage that could prove deadly.Dologesic DF can cause blurred vision or affect your thinking or reactions. You should be careful when driving or doing anything else that requires alertness and the ability to see clearly.

Interaction with other drug

Before using this medication, ask your doctor or pharmacist if you also use any other medications, such as prescription and over-the-counter medicines, vitamins, and herbal products. Some medicines taken together may produce unexpected and/or dangerous side-effects; this medication guide does not attempt to cover every interaction possibility. This medicine can have a worsening effect if taken with drugs that cause you to sleep or slow down your breathing. Dologesic DF can be taken with sleeping pills, narcotics, muscle relaxers, and medicines for anxiety, depression, or seizures.
