What is Desoxyn?

Desoxyn stimulates the central nervous system. It works by affecting chemicals that are produced in the nerves and brain. These contribute to hyperactivity. Desoxyn treats attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). Desoxyn is used to treat obesity as well as for people who are overweight and haven't lost weight despite diets and other treatments. Desoxyn can be used in other ways not mentioned in the medication guide.

Side effects of Desoxyn

If you notice symptoms associated with allergy reactions such as difficulty breathing, hives or swelling to your lips, face, throat or tongue - seek medical assistance immediately!

Desoxyn can cause severe side effects. If you experience:

  • Signs of heart disease include chest pain, difficulty breathing, and feeling as if you could pass out.
  • Signs of psychosis—hallucinations (seeing or hearing things that are not real), new behavior problems, aggression, hostility, paranoia;
  • Signs of circulatory problems: numbness or pain in the fingers and toes Unexplained injuries or changes in skin color (pale or red appearance)
  • A seizure (convulsions);
  • Muscle twitches or tics
  • Changes in your vision

If you experience symptoms such as agitation or hallucinations; fever; sweating and shivering; rapid heartbeat; muscle stiffness, twitching. loss of coordination. nausea. vomiting. Diarrhea. Desoxyn may affect the growth of children. If your child's growth isn't normal while taking desoxyn, tell your doctor.

Desoxyn can cause the following side effects:

  • Headache or dizziness;
  • Fast heartbeats;
  • Sleep problems (insomnia);
  • Diarrhea, constipation, upset stomach;
  • Tremors;
  • Weight loss, loss of appetite

There may be other side effects.Call your physician if experiencing side effects and report it. Additionally, call 1-800-FDA-1088 to report symptoms to the FDA.

Warnings

This medicine should not be used if you suffer from glaucoma or an overactive thyroid. You may also have moderate-to-severe hypertension. cardiovascular disease and coronary heart disease. Desoxyn is addictive and can lead to addiction. Inform your doctor about any drug abuse or alcohol problems you may have. Stimulants can cause strokes, heart attacks, and sudden deaths in those with heart problems, high blood pressure, or heart defects. Have You Used an MAO Inhibitor Recently (such as Nebidec(r) ) isocarboxazid or linezolid), do not take Desoxyn. Desoxyn can cause psychosis, especially in people with a mental health history such as bipolar disorder or depression.

It is possible that you have a blood circulation problem. This can lead to numbness or pain in your fingertips or toes. Please consult a medical provider immediately if you experience: chest pain, light-headedness or shortness of breath; signs of heart problems--chest pain, feeling light-headed or short of breath; psychotic symptoms--paranoia, aggression and new behavior problems as well as seeing/hearing things that don't exist; circulation problems--unexplained wounds on fingers or toes; signs of psychosis: paranoia aggression new behavior problems as well as seeing things which don't exist; signs of psychosis--paranoia paranoia aggression new behavior problems along with new behavior issues as well; or signs of psychosis-paranoia paranoia paranoia aggression new behavioral issues caused by seeing or hearing things outside reality; circulation problems- unanxeous wounds appear where there shouldn't exist;

Before you take this drug

If you're allergic to stimulant medicines or have any of the following:

  • High blood pressure, moderate to severe;
  • Heart disease, or hardened arteries (coronary artery disease);
  • Overactive thyroid
  • Glaucoma;
  • Severe anxiety, tension, or agitation (stimulant medicines can exacerbate these symptoms);
  • A history of alcohol or drug abuse

If you've used an MAO inhibitor in the last 14 days, do not take Desoxyn. A harmful drug-drug interaction may occur. The MAO inhibitors are isocarboxazid (linezolid), methylene blue injection, phenelzine rasagiline, selegiline, tranylcypromine, and many others. Desoxyn can cause serious side effects if it is taken with certain medicines. These include opioids, herbal products, and medicine to treat depression, mental illnesses, Parkinson's disease, migraines, severe infections, and the prevention of nausea. Consult your doctor before changing the way or when you are taking your medication. Certain stimulants can cause strokes, heart attacks, or sudden deaths in some people. Inform your doctor about:

  • Heart problems or a congenital heart defect;
  • High blood pressure
  • A family history of sudden or heart-related death

Tell your doctor about any of the following to ensure that Desoxyn will be safe for you:

  • Depression, mental illness (bipolar disorder), psychosis, or thoughts of suicide are all examples.
  • tourette syndrome, or motor tics
  • Seizures or epilepsy;
  • An abnormal brainwave test (eeg);
  • Diabetes
  • Blood circulation problems of the feet or hands

Desoxyn is only effective when used after other weight-loss medications or diets have failed. Desoxyn taken during pregnancy may cause birth defects, birthweight problems, and withdrawal symptoms for the baby. Inform your doctor of any pregnancy or plans to get pregnant. Methamphetamine may pass through breast milk, causing harm to a baby who is nursing. Breastfeeding women must not use this medicine. Desoxyn has not been approved for anyone under the age of six. The use of this medicine to treat childhood obesity is not recommended for children younger than 12.

How to take Desoxyn?

Please follow all the instructions on the prescription label. Sometimes your doctor will change the dose. Use this medication only as prescribed.Do not exceed the prescribed dose or use it for too long. Desoxyn can be addictive. Do not share the medicine, particularly with someone who has a drug addiction or abuse history. Store it in an area where other people cannot access it. It is illegal to sell or give away the medicine. As soon as your order arrives, read all information available, such as medication guides or instructions, carefully.If you have questions, ask your pharmacist or doctor. Do not increase the dose if you take Desoxyn for obesity treatment and find that your appetite increases. Call your doctor and stop taking the medication. During the course of your treatment, you will be required to visit your doctor regularly. You should tell any doctor who treats you about the medication you're taking.

Keep away from heat, moisture, and light. Track your medication. Desoxyn can be abused, so you need to know if someone is taking your medication without a prescription or improperly.

What happens if I miss the dose?

Do not wait until the evening to take the dose you missed. If it's almost nighttime, skip the missed dose. You should not take more medicine to compensate for a missed dose.

What happens if I overdose?

Call Poison Help immediately on 1-800-222-1222 if consuming poison, or seek emergency medical help immediately.A desoxyn overdose can be deadly. Restlessness, tremors, rapid breathing, and muscle twitches are all symptoms of an overdose. Depression and fatigue may follow these symptoms. A severe overdose can also lead to seizures or a coma.

What should be avoided?

The medication can affect your ability to think or react. You should be careful when driving or doing anything else that requires alertness. Drinking fruit juices and taking vitamin C together with desoxyn can cause your body to absorb less of the medicine. They can cause your body to absorb less medicine.

Interaction with other drug

Before using any stomach acid medication (such as sodium bicarbonate or Alka Seltzer), consult your doctor. These medicines may alter the way that your body processes desoxyn and increase its side effects.

Inform your doctor of all the medicines you are currently taking and those that you will stop or start using.

  • Medication to treat mental illnesses or depression
  • Insulin;
  • Blood pressure medicine;
  • Seizure medicine.
