What is Sotagliflozin?
Adults who have heart attacks, heart failure, type II diabetes, or kidney disease can use Sotagliflozin to reduce their risk of dying from heart disease. Adults can also be treated with sotagliflozin to reduce the risk of death or hospitalization for heart failure when their hearts are unable to pump blood correctly. This medication guide does not list all possible uses of sotagliflozin.
Side effects of Sotagliflozin
If you experience any of the following signs and symptoms of an allergic reaction: hives, difficulty breathing or swelling of lips, face, tongue or throat. Seek medical help immediately!. If you experience any of the following symptoms: nausea, stomach pain, vomiting, or fatigue, stop taking sotagliflozin immediately and contact your doctor.
If any of these symptoms arise, seek medical assistance immediately. These symptoms can get worse very quickly.
The following side effects can occur:
- Pain in the side or lower back; blood in urine; painful or difficult urination
- Fever, nausea, vomiting,
- Low sugar—headache; sweating; irritability; and dizziness. Rapid heart rate.
Sotagliflozin can cause a number of side effects.
- Pain and burning when you urinate
- Low blood sugar
- Dehydration
- Diarrhea.

Warnings
Do not use it other than as directed. Inform your doctor of all medications you are currently taking or of allergies or medical conditions such as asthma that might require special consideration. Sotagliflozin may cause serious infections in the vagina or penis. Seek medical attention immediately if there is burning, itching, discharge, pain, tenderness or redness of the genital area or rectal region, or swelling.
If you experience any of the symptoms that indicate a serious side effect, such as nausea, vomiting, or fatigue, stop taking this medication and contact your doctor immediately. If you have diarrhea or vomiting, or if your appetite or drinking are less than normal, tell your doctor.
Before you take this drug
If you have an allergy to sotagliflozin, then it is best not to use this drug.
Tell your doctor about any of the following:
- Type I diabetes, or diabetic ketoacidosis;
- Pancreas disorder, including surgery;
- A habit of drinking three or more alcoholic drinks per day.
- A genital infection (penis or vagina);
- Bladder inflammation, or urination issues;
- Liver or kidney disease
If you are pregnant, stop using sotagliflozin immediately and inform your doctor. The medicine can harm or kill an unborn child if taken during the second or third trimester.
How to take Sotagliflozin?
Read all instructions or guides that come with your medication and follow all directions precisely. Follow the directions on the label. It is recommended that you take Sotagliflozin once a day on an empty stomach, at least one hour before your first meal. Tell the surgeon in advance if you will need surgery. Your doctor may advise that you temporarily stop taking the medication.
You will be tested for blood before and after treatment with sotagliflozin. It can interfere with certain medical tests. Inform any doctor that you see about your use of sotagliflozin. Do not chew or crush the tablet. Store away from heat and moisture at room temperature.
What happens if I miss the dose?
If you miss a dose by more than six hours, you should use the medication as soon as possible. Never take two doses of the same medicine at once.

What should be avoided?
If your doctor prescribes any restrictions regarding food, beverage, or activity, follow their instructions. You may get dizzy if you stand up quickly from a seated or lying position.
