What is Utopic?

There are a variety of kinds and brands of topical urea available, and not all of them are included in this brochure.

It is a form of medicine known as utopic (for the face) that can be used to soften dry or rough skin that is caused by skin disorders like eczema, psoriasis, keratosis, and more. The medicine can also be utilized to heal damaged fingers and toenails so that they can be removed with no surgical intervention. Utopic is also used for reasons not mentioned in this medication guide.

Side effects of Utopic

Contact a medical professional immediately. If you notice any of the following signs that indicate an allergic reaction, trouble breathing or swelling of your lips, face, or tongue.

Utopic could cause severe adverse effects. Take a break from Utopic and consult your physician immediately if you suffer from:

  • extreme redness or irritation on the skin treated.

Common adverse consequences of Utopic can include:

  • moderate itching mild itching
  • A mild sting or burning sensation.

Before you take this drug

It is not recommended to take Utopic if you have an allergy to it. FDA pregnant category C. It isn't known whether Utopic could harm an unborn baby. Do not take Utopic without consulting a physician, in case you are expecting.

It is unclear if the topical urea is absorbed into the breast milk or if it can cause harm to a nursing infant. Don't use this medication without a prescription from a doctor, in case you are breastfeeding the baby.

How to take Utopic

Utopic comes in different forms (cream lotion, ointment, lotion liquid, gel foam shampoo, and more) to be applied to the scalp or the skin. Apply the medication exactly as stated on the label or as directed by your physician. Avoid using in greater than smaller quantities or for longer periods than prescribed. Do not consume by mouth. Utopic is only used to treat skin. If the medication is absorbed into your nose, eyes, mouth, rectum, or vagina, wash it off with water. Make use of mild soap or cleanser to clean the nail area or skin that you want to treat. Utopic is most effective when the nail or skin to be treated is left just a little damp prior to the treatment beginning applied.

Spread a small amount of this treatment on the skin that is affected, and massage it in as thoroughly as you can. If you apply Utopic to your nails, do not get any of the medicine on the cuticles or any surrounding skin. Apply the cream generously to the nail and let the solution dry. You can apply gauze or bandages, should your physician advise. The nail that has been treated should be removed easily after a few days. The utopic foam should be shaken thoroughly prior to each use. Other versions of this medication could also require shaking prior to use. Follow all the instructions on the label of the medicine.

Cleanse your hands using soap and water following the application of this medication, except if you are treating your skin on your hands. Contact your doctor if symptoms do not improve or if your symptoms become worse after using Utopic. Keep it at room temperature, far from heat and moisture. Avoid freezing. The medicine container should be kept shut when not being used. Be sure to keep the foam canister clear of flames or extreme temperatures. The canister might be able to explode if it is too hot. Avoid burning or puncturing the empty foam canister.

What happens if I miss the dose?

Take the missed dose when you remember. Avoid any missed doses if it's close to the time of the next dose. Don't use any extra medication to replace the missed dose.

What should be avoided?

Don't use Utopic on burns, open wounds, or areas of skin that are swollen. If this medication enters your nose, eyes, mouth, rectum, or vagina, wash it off with water.

Interaction with other drug

It's unlikely that other medications you consume by mouth or inject will affect the topically applied urea. But there are many drugs that interfere with each other. Be sure to inform your health care professionals about any medications you take that include prescription and non-prescription drugs, vitamins, and herbs.
