What is Simponi smartject?
Simponi smartject treats ankylosing spondylitis and rheumatoid arthritis in adults. Simponi The smartject can also be used in combination with other medications to treat polyarticular juvenile arthritis and psoriatic arthritis in adults and in children older than 2 years.
Simponi smartject can also be used in combination with other medications to treat colitis ulcerative among adults when other medications have failed or were not tolerated. Simponi smartject can be used in other ways not mentioned in this guide.
Side effects of Simponi smartject
If you experience any of the following signs and symptoms of an allergic reaction: difficulty breathing, swelling in your face, lips or throat or hives - seek medical assistance immediately!
If you experience any of the following symptoms, contact your physician immediately:
- Feeling sick; having a fever; feeling tired;
- Shortness of breath, bloody mucus
- Weight loss;
- Painful skin sores or warmth
- Diarrhoea, stomach pain,
- Burning or increased urination.
Call your doctor immediately if you:
- Skin growth or changes to the skin's appearance
- Swelling in your lower legs;
- Vision changes
- You may feel tingling or numbness in your arms and legs.
- Heart problems: swelling, rapid weight gain, and feeling short of breath.
- Low blood cell counts: fever, chills, and tiredness; mouth sores or skin sores. Easy bruising. Unusual bleeding. Pale skin. Cold hands and feet. Feeling light-headed.
- Liver problems: loss of appetite, pain in the upper right corner of the stomach, fatigue, itching dark urine, clay-coloured stools, jaundice
- If you have new or worsening lupus symptoms, such as joint pain or skin inflammation that is worsened in the sun on your arms or cheeks,
- Signs of psoriasis include red or scaly patches, flaking, and pus.
Side effects that Simponi smartject can cause include:
- Sore or stuffy throat.
- Abnormal liver function tests
- High blood pressure
- Skin rash
- Low blood cell count;
- Pain, itching, or redness where the medicine has been injected.

Warnings
You could get serious or even fatal infections more easily. Before you begin Simponi smartject, you should be tested to see if you have hepatitis C or tuberculosis. During treatment, your doctor may monitor you for symptoms and signs.
Before you take this drug
Simponi smartject should not be used if you have an allergy to latex or rubber.
Tell your doctor if:
- An active or chronic infection
- A disorder of the nerves and muscles, such as multiple sclerosis;
- Lymphoma or cancer?
- Congestive heart failure;
- Psoriasis;
- Recently received or scheduled for a live vaccination
Provide your physician with information regarding any travel or exposure to tuberculosis. You may have been exposed to certain infections while travelling. Simponi smartject can increase your risk of other cancers. You should discuss this with your doctor. Simponismartject is not known to harm unborn babies.Inform your physician immediately if you are pregnant or considering becoming pregnant.
Inform your doctor about the use of Simponi smartject while pregnant. This could have an impact on your baby’s vaccination schedule in the first six months. Ask your doctor if you can safely breastfeed while taking this medication.
How to take Simponi smartject?
Read and follow all instructions or guides provided with your medication. Follow the directions on the label. Before you begin Simponi smartject, you should be tested to see if you have a history of tuberculosis and hepatitis. During treatment, your doctor may monitor you for symptoms and signs.
Simponi smartject can be infused into a vein. This type of injection is given by a healthcare provider once every four to eight weeks. Simponi smartject can also be injected into the skin every 2 to 4 weeks. This injection may be given to you. Your healthcare provider can show you how to inject Simponi smartject. Do not repeat the injection in the same area.
If you're not sure how to use an injectable, ask your pharmacist or doctor. Only prepare an injection when you're prepared to give it. If the medication is cloudy or has changed colour, call your pharmacist. Simponi smartject may weaken your immune system. You will need to test your blood often.
Do not freeze. Store the medicine in its original packaging in the refrigerator. Keep away from the light. Do not attempt to heat medicine using hot water, sunlight or microwave. Never attempt to warm your medicine using any method other than traditional pharmacy methods such as hot water heating, sunlight and/or microwave heating.
After one use, dispose of prefilled syringes or auto-injectors containing medicine even if there remains some left in them. Never reuse a syringe or needle. Put sharps in an appropriate puncture-proof "sharps container", and dispose of them according to local or state law. Keep away from children and pets.
What happens if I miss the dose?
If you miss a dose, contact your physician immediately to obtain further instruction.
What happens if I overdose?

What should be avoided?
Live vaccines such as measles (MMR), rubella, rotavirus (typhoid), yellow fever, varicella chickenpox and zoster could pose serious threats if administered incorrectly.
Interaction with other drug
It is sometimes not safe to take certain medications at the same time. Some drugs may alter the blood levels of other medications you're taking, increasing side effects and making them less effective.
Tell your doctor all of your other medications, including:
- Anakinra;
- Abatacept, etanercept,
- Adalimumab, certolizumab, infliximab, rituximab, or tocilizumab.
