What is Robitussin Children’s Cough and Cold CF?

Dextromethorphan works by blocking the cough reflex in your brain. Guaifenesin relieves congestion in both chest and throat areas while Phenylephrine helps shrink blood vessels in nasal passages. Robitussin The Children's Cough & Cold CF is an anti-allergy medicine that treats cough, congestion, and stuffy nose caused by allergies or the cold. The Robitussin Children’s Cough and Cold CF does not treat coughs caused by smoking or asthma. This medicine is available in many different brands and forms. This leaflet does not list all brands. Side Effects of Robitussin Children’s Cough and Cold CF

If you experience any of the following signs and symptoms of an allergic reaction: difficulty breathing, hives or swelling to face lips throat area

This medicine can cause serious side effects. If you experience:

  • Little or no urination
  • Fast or slow heartbeats
  • Confusion, dizziness, feeling unsteady;
  • Nervousness; sleep problems (insomnia);
  • Severe nausea or vomiting;
  • Severe headache; blurred vision; or pounding in the neck and ears
  • Slow breathing
  • Unusual changes in mood or behavior

Robitussin Children's Cough and Cold CF side effects may include:

  • Diarrhea, constipation;
  • Dizziness, drowsiness;
  • Sleep problems (insomnia);
  • Feeling nervous, restless, or irritable.

Warnings

This medication should not be taken if you have taken an MAO inhibitor within 14 days.Examples include isocarboxazid (linezolid), phenelzine (phenelzine), rasagiline (selegiline), and tranylcypromine.

Before you take this drug

If you are allergic to dextromethorphan or phenylephrine, do not use this medicine. MAO inhibitors such as isocarboxazid (Linezolid), phenelzine (Rasagiline), selegiline (Tranylcypromine), or rasagiline may interact with this medication and cause adverse drug interactions that could prove hazardous.

If you suffer from:

  • High blood
  • Diabetes;
  • A thyroid disorder
  • Urination problems
  • Glaucoma;
  • Epilepsy
  • Pheochromocytoma
  • Chronic bronchitis or emphysema can cause a cough that is mucus-laden.

This medication may contain phenylalanine. If you suffer from phenylketonuria, be sure to carefully review your medication's labels. Consult your doctor before taking this medication if you're pregnant or breastfeeding.

How to take Robitussin Children's Cough and Cold CF?

Follow the directions on the label or those prescribed by your physician. Cold and cough medicines should only be taken temporarily until all symptoms have subsided. Follow the directions on the label when giving cough medicine or cold medicine. Never give cough and cold medicines to help put children to sleep. Do not chew or crush a tablet. Swallow the entire tablet. Measuring liquid medicine is important. Use the provided dosing device or a dose-measuring tool (not a spoon). While taking this medication, be sure to drink additional liquids to ease congestion and moisten the throat. This will also provide extra lubrication. If your symptoms don't improve within 7 days or you experience a fever, rash, or headache, call your doctor. Tell your doctor or surgeon immediately if you have taken medication within the past several days and require testing or surgery for medical purposes. Store away from moisture or heat at room temperature. Liquid medicines should not be allowed to freeze.

What happens if I miss the dose?

No doubt your cough and cold medication use varies, as needed. So it may not have a scheduled use. If it is almost time for the next dose, skip any missed dose. Never take two doses in one go.

What should be avoided?

Do not drive or engage in hazardous activities until you have determined how the medicine will affect you. You may be unable to react properly. Certain side effects can be exacerbated by alcohol consumption. Before using any other cold or cough medicines, ask your doctor or pharmacist if they contain similar ingredients.

Interaction with other drug

Use Robitussin Children's Cough and Cold CF only if you are not taking any other medications that can cause drowsiness, such as opioids, muscle relaxers, or medicines for seizures or anxiety.
