What is Lotrisone Cream?
Lotrisone is a combination cream of betamethasone and clotrimazol. Betamethasone, a highly potent steroid, reduces itchiness, swelling, and redness in the skin.Clotrimazole, an antifungal drug, is used to treat infections caused by fungus.Lotrisone is a cream that's prescribed to treat fungal infections on the skin, such as athletes foot jock itch and ringworm.Children under the age of 17 should not use Lotrisone cream.
Warnings
Lotrisone cream should not be used on children younger than 17 years. The steroid is more likely to be absorbed through the skin in children.Do not use Lotrisone cream for diaper rash.Covering treated skin with bandages or clothing that is too tight may be harmful. Consult your doctor before doing so.It may take 1 to 2 weeks before you notice any improvement in your symptoms. Keep using the medication according to the instructions for the best results. If your foot or groyne symptoms don't improve within 2 weeks, you should consult your doctor.Please read all the instructions on the label or package of your medicine. Tell your doctor about any medical conditions you may have, including allergies and medications.
Before you take this drug
Lotrisone may not work for you if:
- Other steroid medications (such as fludrocortisone or hydrocortisone), or
- Other antifungal medications (such as itraconazole) or other antifungal drugs (such as miconazole or posaconazole)
Tell your doctor about any of the following to ensure that Ltrisone cream will be safe for you:
- A skin reaction to any medicine containing steroids;
- Glaucoma or cataract
- Liver disease
- An adrenal gland disorder is a condition that affects the adrenal glands.
Steroids can cause glucose (sugar) levels to increase in the blood or urine. Inform your doctor if diabetes is present.The use of highly potent steroids during pregnancy can increase the risk that the baby will be born with a low birth weight. Tell your doctor immediately if you plan to get pregnant.Lotrisone cream can cause problems if breast-feeding is being done. You should consult your doctor if you are concerned about any risks. Avoid areas where the mouth of your baby may come into contact with Lotrisone cream if you apply it to your chest.Apply this medicine as quickly and efficiently as possible if you are pregnant or nursing.Anyone under the age of 17 is not allowed to use Lotrisone cream. Children are more susceptible to side effects and can absorb more of the medicine through their skin.
How to take Lotrisone Cream?
Follow the instructions on your prescription label and read all medication guides or instruction sheets. Please read the instructions on your prescription label.Take it only by mouth. Topical medicines are only to be used on the skin.Please read and follow all instructions for use that come with your medication. If you don't understand the instructions, ask your doctor or pharmacist.You should wash your hands both before and after applying Lotrisone cream, unless this is being used to treat your skin.Rub a thin layer on the affected area of skin. Apply this medicine only to the affected area of skin, unless you have been told otherwise by your doctor. To avoid infection, keep your skin dry and clean.Only cover the area treated if you are told to by your doctor. Covering the treated area can increase the amount of medicine absorbed by your skin and cause adverse effects.When treating diaper rash, avoid using tight-fitting or plastic pants. Never use Lotrisone to treat diaper rash.Even if you feel better quickly, continue to take this medication for the prescribed time.If your symptoms don't improve within 1 week (or 2 weeks if you are using the medication on your feet), then call your doctor.Keep away from moisture and heat at room temperature. Store the lotion upright.
What happens if I miss the dose?
Skip the missed dose if you have a close-up dose. Never apply two doses at once.
What happens if I overdose?

What should be avoided?
Do not get this medication in your mouth, eyes, or vagina.Lotrisone is not to be used for any skin conditions that have not been examined by your doctor.Do not use other topical steroids on areas that you have treated with Lotrisone cream unless you are told to by your doctor.
Side effects of Lotrisone Cream
If you experience any of the following symptoms of an allergic reaction: hives, difficulty breathing, swelling of the face, lips, or tongue, or swelling of your throat, face, lips, or tongue, seek emergency medical attention.
If you experience:
- Skin conditions are worsening;
- Redness, heat, swelling, oozing, or severe irritation on any skin treated
- Blurred vision, tunnel vision, eye pain, or seeing halos around light
- High blood sugar: increased thirst, increased urination, and dry mouth; or
- Signs that you may be absorbing the medicine through your skin: weight gain, especially in your face, upper back, and torso; slow wound healing (especially on your face); thinning skin or skin discoloration; increased hair growth; muscle weakness; vomiting; and diarrhoea. Tiredness, mood swings, menstrual irregularities, and sexual changes
Lotrisone may cause side effects such as:
- The feeling of tingling or numbness
- Skin dryness or rash
- New infections
