What is Indocin SR?

Indocin SR, a nonsteroidal analgesic (NSAID), is a drug.Indocin SR can be used to treat moderate-to-severe osteoarthritis or rheumatoid arthritis. It is also effective in treating gouty arthritis and ankylosing spondylitis. This medication is also used for shoulder pain that's caused by tendinitis or bursitis.

Indocin SR Extended-Release (Indocin SR) should not be used for the treatment of gouty arthritis.Indocin SR can be used in other ways not mentioned in this guide.

Side effects of Indocin SR

If you experience symptoms of an allergic reaction, such as hives, difficulty breathing, swelling on your face or in your throat, or a severe reaction to the skin (fever or sore throat with burning eyes, skin pain or blistering, or a red or purple rash), seek emergency medical attention.

Seek immediate medical care if you notice any of the symptoms.

If you experience a serious reaction to Indocin SR, stop using it and consult a doctor. Symptoms can include a skin rash, fever, or swollen lymph glands. Other symptoms may include severe weakness, unusual bruising, or yellowing in the skin or eyes.

Indocin SR can cause serious side effects. Indocin SR should be stopped immediately, and you should consult your doctor if:

  • A skin rash is a rash on the skin, regardless of how mild it may be.
  • Changes in your vision
  • Heart problems: swelling, rapid weight gain, and feeling short of breath.
  • Signs of liver or pancreas disease include: loss of appetite, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea (which may spread up to your back), unusual fatigue, itching (flu-like symptoms), dark urine, and yellowing of the skin or eye;
  • Signs of stomach bleeding include bloody or tarry stool, vomiting that looks like coffee, or coughing up blood.
  • If you have kidney problems, it could be that your urine is not as frequent, or you are experiencing swelling of the feet or ankles or feeling tired.
  • Low red blood cells (anemia): pale skin, unusual fatigue, feeling lightheaded or hort of breath,, cold hands and/or feet

Indocin SR can cause the following side effects:

  • Indigestion, nausea;
  • Headache

Warnings

Indocin can increase the risk of a fatal stroke or heart attack, even if there are no risk factors. Indocin SR should not be used before or after heart bypass surgery.

Indocin SR can also cause fatal stomach or intestinal bleeding. You may not be aware of these conditions if you use this medication, particularly if you are older.

Before you take this drug

Indocin SR should not be used if you're allergic to it, if your asthma attack was caused by aspirin, or if an allergic reaction occurred after you took an NSAID or aspirin.

Tell your doctor about any of the following:

  • Heart disease, high blood pressure
  • A heart attack, stroke, or blood clot
  • Fluid retention;
  • Bleeding problems
  • Stomach ulcers or bleeding
  • Asthma;
  • Liver or kidney disease
  • If you smoke.

Do not take Indocin SR if you are pregnant unless you have been told to by your doctor. Nsaids can cause kidney or heart problems for the unborn child and other complications during pregnancy.This medicine can temporarily reduce fertility in women.

Breastfeeding may not be possible while taking this medication. You should ask your doctor if there are any risks.Indocin SR should not be used by anyone under the age of 14.

How to take Indocin SR?

Read all the instructions on the label of your medication and follow them. Use the lowest effective dose to treat your condition.Do not open, crush, chew, or break the capsule.Before measuring a dose, shake the orally suspended liquid. Use the provided dosing device or a dose-measuring tool (not a spoon).

You may need to adjust your dose if you change the brand, strength, or form of Indocin SR.You may need to undergo frequent medical tests if you take this medication for a long time.Tell your surgeon, if you are considering surgery, that you use this medication. You may have to stop using this medicine for a while.Store away from moisture or heat at room temperature. Don't allow liquid medicines to freeze.

What happens if I miss the dose?

If you are almost due for your next dose, skip the missed one. Never take two doses of the same medicine at once.

What happens if I overdose?

Call 1-800-222-1222 for poison help or seek immediate medical attention.

Overdose symptoms include nausea, vomiting, and severe drowsiness.

What should be avoided?

Avoid alcohol. Avoid alcohol.Aspirin should only be taken if your doctor recommends it.

They may contain ingredients similar to Indocin SR. These medicines may contain similar ingredients to Indocin SR, such as aspirin or ibuprofen. Ketoprofen and naproxen.

Interaction with other drug

Before using Indocin SR, ask your doctor if you are taking an antidepressant. Certain antidepressants may cause you to bruise or bleed easily.

Before using Indocin SR in conjunction with other medications, ask your doctor or pharmacist.

  • Cyclosporine;
  • Lithium;
  • Methotrexate;
  • Probenecid;
  • Heart or blood pressure medications, including diuretics or "water pills";
  • A blood thinner: warfarin Coumadin Jantoven
  • Other nsaids include aspirin, ibuprofen, naproxen, celecoxib (Aleve), diclofenac (Diclofenac), meloxicam (Meloxicam), and others.
