What is Vectical?
Vectical is one form that contains vitamin d. It functions by reducing the rate at which skin cells reproduce.
The ointment vectical is utilized to manage the condition known as plaque psoriasis (raised silvery flaking of skin) for both children and adults aged 2 or more years.vectical is not recommended for treating severe forms of psoriasis (with pus, peeling of the skin, and extreme redness).
Warnings
You shouldn't apply vectical cream if you have severe psoriasis (with pus, peeling of the skin, or extreme redness).before taking vectical, consult your doctor if you are suffering from very or excessive concentrations of calcium levels in the blood. This could indicate a metabolic disorder or calcium imbalance, or you could receive uv light treatments (phototherapy) to treat your psoriasis.
Inform your doctor about any other medicines you're taking for treating psoriasis. Tell your doctor that you are taking diuretics (water pills) or mineral or vitamin supplements containing the mineral calcium or vitamin d.
The ointment vectical is intended for use only on psoriasis-related areas. Do not apply it to the healthy areas of your skin. The ointment is not to be applied to the face or vaginal region.
Stop taking vectical and contact your physician when you experience a severe side effect, such as severe redness, blisters, itching, or any other irritations of the treated skin. Taking this medication may affect your body's ability to metabolize calcium. This can lead to high amounts of calcium present in the blood (hypercalcemia). Signs of this disorder include nausea, lack of appetite, constipation, an increase in thirst and urination, muscles becoming weak, confusion, and a feeling of being tired or anxious. If any of these symptoms occur, do not hesitate to consult a physician immediately.
Before you take this drug
To ensure that vectical is safe for you, ask your doctor if you have ever experienced:
- Either high or low concentrations of calcium present in the blood.
- A calcium disorder or metabolic imbalance;
- If you're receiving uv treatments with light (phototherapy) to treat your psoriasis,
Inform your doctor immediately if you are breastfeeding or pregnant.vectical should never be given to children younger than 2 years old.
How to take Vectical?
Utilize vectical precisely as directed by your physician. Follow all instructions on the label of your prescription and also read the medication guide or instructions sheets.do not consume by mouth. Topical medicines are for use exclusively on your skin. Avoid using it on the lips, your face, or around your eyes.wash your hands thoroughly before and after using this medication, except if you are treating the psoriasis that affects your hands.
Apply a thin coating of the medicine and massage it into the skin.do not cover the areas of the skin with bandaging or plastic.vectical can be used only in areas with psoriasis. Beware of applying it to normal skin regions.
Topical doses of calcitriol are based on the child's age. The dosage requirements for your child will alter once they reach 7 years old.maintain a temperature at or below room temperature, without excess heat or moisture.don't freeze or refrigerate.don't share this medication with anyone else, even if they suffer from similar symptoms to yours.
Details on dosage
Usual adult dose for plaque psoriasis:
Ointment: apply it to the affected areas two times a day, morning and evening.
Maximum weekly dose: 200 grammes
treatment for light to moderate plaque psoriasis
Usual paediatric dose for plaque psoriasis:
Ointment:
2 years old and over 2 years and older: apply the treatment to the affected area at least twice per day, in the morning and at night.
Between 2 and 6 years old maximum dose per week: 100 grammes
7 years old and over maximum dose for a week: 200 grammes
use: treatment for minor to moderate plaque psoriasis
What happens if i miss the dose?
Take the medication as quickly as you are able, but take a break from your missed dosage if you are nearing the time to take the next dose. Don't take two doses at once.

What should be avoided?
This medication can cause your skin to become more sensitive to the damaging consequences of sun exposure. Avoid sun exposure or tanning beds. Be sure to wear protective attire and sunblock (spf 30 or greater) whenever you're outside.
Beware of getting this medication in your mouth, eyes, or vagina.
Side effects of Vectical
Contact a medical professional immediately. If you show symptoms that indicate an allergy reaction, the ointment is vectical: hives, difficulty breathing, and swelling of your lips, face, and tongue.
Stop taking this medication and consult your physician immediately if you suffer from:
- Redness, blistering, or itching irritations of the treated area
- More severe symptoms, worsened symptoms,
The use of vectical may alter your body's ability to process calcium. Inform your physician right now when you experience symptoms of elevated amounts of calcium levels in the blood (hypercalcemia) and include:
- Nausea, vomiting nausea, vomiting, loss of appetite, constipation;
- More thirst, or increased urination
- Low energy levels tiredness, fatigue
- Weakness in the muscles;
- Confusion
- Bone discomfort.
Common side effects of vectical may include:
- The presence of calcium in urine
- Itching;
- Abnormal lab tests.

Interaction with other drug
Discuss with your doctor all other medications, including:
- Other medicines that treat psoriasis
- Minerals or vitamins that include either calcium or vitamin d as well as
- Diuretic, also known as a "water pill" (such as hydrochlorothiazide hctz, diovan hct, hyzaar, maxzide, tenoretic, zestoretic, and others).
